Yeah, but... cool as that sounds, given the fairly broad geographical spread of the 'lithers it might be a bit difficult for some folk to attend one big party. How about a string of parties held on roughly the same day? I know the different timezones'd bugger it up a bit but I'm sure there'd be some sort of overlap. Midsummer madness, anyone?

I would love to organise a huge Barbelith event in the UK - hire-out-a-club kind of thing - do something like Fray Day or the like. I think it could be really interesting.

Yeah, Barbelith: The Salon, could be really cool if you had tons of stuff on before the fight about music.
The creative folks doing their thing, Live performance by the Naked Flames? Some talks by people on 'stuff'. Invite some guests along to talk about magic, comics, activism etc etc.
Could feed peoples desire for meets that aren't about beer.

Preferably on a weekend before a bank holiday or something, so that people-who-have-jobs will be able to travel without undue hardships..

I suppose it would be both a)far too expensive and b)far too unhip to hire a hotel or something in a (gulp) sci-fi convention type manner..

Even if it's in the UK, because I've been dying to go there for the longest time and this would be the perfect thing to get me up and going there. I'd just need to hook up with some cheap ass plane tickets, which I'm sure wouldn't be the hardest thing in the world.
