So…
I imagine a lot of you will already know the bar run by, among others, Bill Drummond: The Foundry (84-86 Gt Eastern Street, London, right on the corner where it forks off from Old Street), and may have heard about their art policy. Well, me and a mate have booked some space there for a show. It’s running from April 2nd – 22nd, with the opening night on the 2nd. Yeah, I know it’s a Tuesday, and it comes immediately after what for a lot of people will be a four – day weekend, so I can imagine there’ll be a fair few fragile heads wanting to hide under the duvet, but….
…. It’ll be really really good, honest! As well as the visual spectacular, music will be provided by my very good friends, the Help! djs (who are also providing sounds at the District bar, right next to Hackney Central station, this Saturday), including some ditties composed specially for the occasion.
As for what you can expect visually, the title of the show is a pretty good indicator. We’ll be interpreting the two themes in light of recent world events. A bit of a departure from my usual style, I have to say. If anybody’s up for brutally cackhanded and bleakly amusing attempts at political satire, please come along, if not for the Tuesday, check it out sometime during the following weeks. Plus, you know, it’d be cool to meet some of you guys IRL , as we say on these message board things that are still damn new to me. |
