Weird Fiction/Genre Mixing

I'm currently working on/mulling over some writing ideas to overcome some serious writer's block and found a good way to overcome it was through mixing genres to produce something new and weird. (I guess the best way to describe what I'm working on would be "near-future spy novel meets occult biopunk escapade.")

Anyone found a way to forge a workable union between other genres, and if so, how did it turn out?

I've been working on an existential zombie film. Thats genre mixing to me. Check ya private messages to see for yourself, its my first proper script.

Nice script, I enjoyed it. Are you planning on filming it yourself or is this something you're going to try to sell?

Cheers.
I'm working on it as director at present. I have crew, cast, location etc, just in the process of raising funds, after I lost the original backer, through urelated financial hassles.

Its to be shot on Broadcast quality DV, in a Drama Documentary style (loose and from the hip). The moaning will be a constant audio track, varying in intensity and effect, with a progressive electronic soundtrack creeping into the mix, by these folk.

The narrative is based on Kubler-Ross's model of how the terminally ill ccome to terms with their condition.

I find that lurching randomly between different genres is always good fun and stops things getting stale..
