bin Laden apparently IS under house arrest by the Taliban, according to reports coming in via the Press Association right now.

i've definitely seen a few high-profile denials of this... now they 'don't know where he is.'

Anyone else think that the Taleban/bin Laden grouping has a small credibility gap/pr problem? (apart from being fascists?) they seem to have 'unofficial' sources giving us news and then the official sources denying it... i.e. they claim responsibility then deny it, the taleban claims they've severed his comms then he issues press statements by sattelite phone. Someone, or more likely everyone, is lying.

Perhaps The Taliban are trying to walk a thin line between usetting their guest and not having Afganistan turned into a radioactvie desert.
If they do accept any demands from the Americans to hand him over/arrest. Then they are seen to be capitualing to the US. If they openly defy the US, War, nuclear or conventional is a possibilty.
