all right, this is probably an experiment doomed to failure, but I was curious if we could tell an interesting story starting with the last line and working our way backwards to the first line. So if you're willing, please write the line that goes before this one...

Only now, with it all behind him, did he finally remember Andrea’s note and begrudingly pull the crumpled ball from his pocket. “Remember, Thomas, nothing is true anymore, and it’s all your fault.” Thomas dropped the note into the river and he smiled.
