That sounds like a plan... only trouble is, one of you is gonna have to do it because (embarrassed smirk/grimace) I know fuck all about computers. Hence my liking for paper. But I also like the idea of posting it online as well.

perhaps an "issue 0" posted online as a teaser and the remainder in print.

Sounds cool... also, from what little I know about this electrickery business that would give us a bit more freedom to mess around with format, content etc without wasting a whole load of paper, as well as seeing what kind of interest there is for it...

I don't have time today, but shall I try and start a Yahoo e-group thingy tomorrow?

Are we going with 'Trauma Unit' as a title?

I'm torn between that and "Tantalus"... maybe that's one of the first things we thrash out on this Yahoo group thingy, and get THAT sorted once and for all.

i'm with 'tantalus' as the title.

this better happen, cos i am full of stories that i am just trying to get down on paper asap.....

I've only just read this post but i like the idea. illustrations or comics would be my thing. have to say that i don't normally work in the realms of dark fantasy, but i'm a classic pisces (not that I believe in that stuff) and can get into anything quickly.
I'm telling myself "doom, mental torture, scaly extremities, undistinguishable flesh" ... am i thinking on the right lines?

you could write 'em down regardless though and horor fiction has a number of markets for the small press even if they pay little or nothing.

I have a good name. It's from the side of a sensitive materials waste carton.

ria - tell me about it! most of my stuff has actually been published - sold my last story for £9.90 no less (and certainly no more!). my problem is that the small press in this country is rather sword and sorcery based and many of them will not even consider your stuff unless you take out a subscription..... so a new mag is rather a good thing methinks.

Cheers for sorting the Yahoo thingy, Rizla... I say we spend the next 3 or 4 days thrashing out the title thing on there (giving everyone else who's expressed an interest but maybe only checks this thread every couple of days time to redirect themselves), cos that's obviously the first hurdle. And does anyone have any objection to the whole paper + online "teaser" idea? Cos it sounds good to me. WARNING- I'm working for the next four nights, so won't be TOO useful until Tuesday, but will do my best before then.
Pirate Cthulhu story almost up and running (or weighing anchor, so to speak)... I'm just trying to decide whether it would be too silly to include a tentacled skull and crossbones flag in it somewhere... I think it probably would.

What happened here? Been thinking along the same lines recently..only difference being that Im thinking e-zine..

It ended up in that place where falls the shadow, you know, between thought and action, or whatever. Shame.

If you're doing something similar and want people on board, I'll give it another go, though...

Sounds good Stoat. Im thinking e-zine, nice looking website where you download the issues in pdf format. You like? Also, should it be one specific genre?

as long as we're going e-zine, let's go all out - not just fiction, but comics, art, essay, everything and anything

I'm sure I could contribute something

Stoat,

You married to Amity? She's an old school friend of mine.

Hey, I used to be an assistant editor at Weird Tales.

Here's another good e-zine in the same vein: http://www.angelfire.com/zine2/thedreampeople/index.html

Sounds good TeN.. Anyone else on board? Ill be contributing fiction and graphics..

How much are you paying?

09:17 / 04.05.05
Sax, just because you're now a famous celeb-hob-nobbing author doesn't mean you have to sell out to the 'wanting cash for the things you create' school of thought. Do it for the love, for the love of your art I tell you. Dear, dearie me.

So yes, anyway. How much are you paying?

that should be the title...
"Stories for Pie"
"Will Write for Pie"
"PieMag"

something like that

Not sure if I have the legal ability to write anything for anyone except my current employer, but if you need a sub-editor on a purely amateur basis, I'm game.

Sounds like we're on! (and bradleysands- yes!)

Someone else has to do the organising, though. I'm not good at that, which is why it never worked last time. I can do effort, I can do hard work, organisation- not my strong point.

"Dreams In The Pie House"? Maybe not.

Organisation not my strong point either.. anyone?

I'm game to contributing something. I have a few ideas that are fairly wacked-out that I have wanted to put into fruition for a while...

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK
17:30 / 15.05.05
I CAN attempt to do the organising, seeing as people are game and stuff, and I'd love to see this happen... but I'm not particularly good at it. Effort I can give... expertise (especially where online malarkey is concerned)- not so good.

I still think this has... well, if not exactly legs, then maybe tentacles... and it seems other people agree. (And it's a source of eternal regret that it didn't happen last time...)

Essentially what I'm saying is if nobody else is really up for organisational stuff, I'll give it a go... but I'm hoping someone else IS up for it.

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK

Oh, and the nuts'n'bolts of actually BUILDING a website with pdf downloads and what have you... someone else WILL have to do that. Because I actually AM Catweazle, and this electrickery business is way over my head.
