It's mostly been lost in the overall coverage of this thing, but there were a few incidents like that in the States, as well. I wish I could remember the particulars, but I'm somewhat stunned and scatterbrained because of all this.
There are, unfortunately, a lot of dumb fuckers who immediately want to go and kick some "towel-head" ass. Idiots.
As a 30 year old Yank, I've never seen "war hysteria" firsthand. There was some stupid bullshit about gas prices and gas lines and such already. People near where I live were all but fighting each other last night, all insisting the price of gas would triple by today. It didn't. Hysteria, plain and simple.
I can only think of the Japanese "internment camps" of WWII and that awful Denzel Washington/Bruce Willis flick of a few years ago with the Arab-American camps, and hope that the land I live in is better than that.
I hope. I guess it's too early to tell, yet. |
