Er, I'm still coming... I have now realised that I gave far too much to do before I do, though. Isn't that always the way?

You think so? I still think you have plenty of time to fill up...

Either way, it's better to have an overload of options - that's what NY is about, in some ways.

"in New York freedom looks like/ too many options..."

No, no, I mean I have too much to do *before*

Wow, I m so glad this thread works. Let s see how my posting will fare today.

My schedule for that week will be Wednesday 18:00/6PM till 21:00/9 PM evening and Sunday until 18:00/6PM. My main job ends at 17:30/5:30PM.

So what's the current itinerary/schedule for this BarbeWeekend, now that the previous posts about this topic have disappeared? And even if they've been restored, just to help me understand just what's being planned for this weekend, so I can figure out what I can attend. THanks!

I think this is how it is:

We're going to have the big Barbefest on Saturday April 6th. We're still figuring out the details...maybe we'll all start out at Halcyon in Brooklyn, but that's up in the air. Flyboy and I will have net access where we're staying, so we'll keep everyone up to date here on the board. Later that night, Flyboy and I are catching a Walkmen show at the Knitting Factory...it's a late show, doors are at 11 PM. If anyone wants to tag along, that would be cool. Tickets are $10...

As far as lodging for out-of-town folks, I think I remember Lionheart and Enamon being willing to help out, but I'm not going to speak for them.

People who want to meet up with Flyboy and/or me other times during that week should contact us via Private Message or email...

Yup, people can stay over at where I live. I would, though, like to know in advance about who needs or wants lodging.

We're going to have the big Barbefest on Saturday April 6th.

Whee!

So are we thinking 15-20 people? I wonder if the café on the corner of Seventh Avenue and Tenth Street in Park Slope is big enough. (It's near the F train Seventh Avenue station)

How about doing it in the mid-afternoon, say 2PM? Does anyone work during the day on Saturday?

All right - Flyboy is arriving in NYC tonight. If you want to meet up with us at any point not mentioned in this thread, please PM or email either myself or Flyboy, leave a telephone number if you can.

So... What's the calendar? What's the schedule?

Ierne
12:41 / 01.04.02
Checked out some cafes in Park Slope over the weekend and Ozzie's over on 5th Avenue and Garfield is probably our best bet. It's huge, right on the corner so it's hard to miss, has oustide seating, and it's not far from the N/R Union Street train station.

If it's a really nice day we can go to Prospect Park.

Is 2 PM a good time for everyone?

Hey, I just read an item in the New York Press about a special Star Wars exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum of Art, within walking distance of Ierne's proposed meet. Here's an excerpt:

"To celebrate the opening of "Star Wars: The Magic of Myth," the
Brooklyn Museum has three special Star Wars guests slated for its
First Saturday party this weekend. First Saturday is the Museum’s
foray into nightlife (not unlike the Whitney’s SoundCheck Fridays) in
which, on the First Saturday of each month, the facilities are kept
open after normal closing time, admission is dropped to $0, the
cafe serves sandwiches and a cash bar offers wine and beer until
11 p.m. It’s been very successful.

The special Star Wars guests this week are Anthony Daniels, who
played C3PO; Rob Coleman from Industrial Light & Magic; and
Academy Award-winning model maker Lorne Peterson, also of
ILM. They will offer their unique perspectives on the making of the
Star Wars movies; hopefully the ILM guys will also shed light on their
company’s real masterpiece, the Jurassic Park trilogy.

First Saturday at the Brooklyn Museum of Art (200 Eastern Pkwy.
at Prospect Park, Brooklyn, 718-638-5000) starts at 5:30. At that
time, the Star Wars guys will speak. Afterward you get, among other
things, Cameroonian singer Gino Sitson (6:30), a screening of The
Red Balloon (7) and live music by the Brooklyn Philharmonic (7)
and Les Sans Culottes (9). It’s all free, but remember, if you want
to scope the Star Wars gear, that’s $10 extra. Call 866-606-R2D2
to reserve your tickets. Really. "

That sounds great, Todd!

Would everyone like to do the BMA thing instead and meet around 5:30? Meeting later in the day would actually be better for me.

Lionheart
19:24 / 02.04.02
When do we meet up? Which day? And what's the schedule? What's the plan?

Regrettable Juvenilia

Oh, read the fucking thread, Lionheart.

Er... less rudely, the main plan is to meet this coming Saturday, the 6th, at Ozzie's on 5th Av and Garfield in Park Slope, at either 2pm or 5.30pm, depending on what the consensus is about seeing the Star Wars exhibition.

There are other plans, but they're all secret.

I thought you hated Star Wars?

Ierne
13:36 / 03.04.02
E.Randy: If I recall from past First Saturdays at the Brooklyn Museum, the entire museum is open late for free. So those peeps who aren't feeling Star Wars can go check out the incredible African Wing on the First floor, the Rodin Sculpture Gallery on the fifth floor, all the fabulous & renowned Egyptian art on the third floor...there's a lot to see.

Ethan Hawke

Why don't we try to meet at Ozzie's later, like 3:30 or something, then people who want to go to the museum can fuck off around 5 and walk there. Personally, that works better for me as I have other plans for the night.

Ierne
18:35 / 03.04.02
3:30 is cool with me.

Hmmm...now that the old thread has returned, I wonder if there's any way to combine the two so we don't get people showing up at halcyon instead of Ozzie's...

Lionheart
04:13 / 04.04.02
I've read the other thread. And guess what? It's filled with suggestions. Suggestions which nobody commented upon. I mean, you're gonna be in New York for a few more days but it seems to me, from the 2 threads, that we're only gonna meet up once. On Saturday. On the same day when I will be in New Jersey.

So that's why i'm asking for a schedule of your plans. Because so far everybody's agreeed to only one meeting. One meeting to which I can't come.

Apologies for the delay in moderation people.

Tom and I are working on a way to resolve this, but we are unsure as to what we will be able to come up with.

Will let you know our best option asap.

Cheers

So, who is able to show up at Ozzie's in Park Slope (on 5th Ave + Garfield, see above for train info) at 3pm or 3:30pm on Saturday, April 6, 2002 Anno Domini? If anyone else commits, I have a high probability for showing up unless some unaviodable nuisance comes up.

Ierne
14:33 / 05.04.02
I do believe that Flyboy, Flux, MJ-12 and myself will be at Ozzie's at 3:30. Flux also mentioned that he'll be bringing some folks with him.
