Just saw this on BBC website. No details yet. Follows 9 deaths in Palestine last night.

from BBC front page.

Israel now has carte blanche when it comes to Palestine. It's truly sickening, but I doubt that the 'international community' will lift a finger to stop them from slaughtering the vast majority of the Palestinian population, if they see fit.

It's fucked. There was a a point made on one of the news programmes tonight along the lines of "no-one will take Palestinian condemnation of these acts seriously while they still employ suicide bombers of their own."

Add to that the constant media repetition of the few outdoor celebrations of Tuesday's atrocity - and face it, has anyone seen anything other than the same twenty seconds of footage repeated over, and over, and over again? - and neither the immediate nor long-term security of Palestine look particularly promising.

And what about the Israelis who die everyday from suicide bombings and other terrorist attacks?

No one deserves to die for politics. I'm so sick of hearing people taking sides because they think they have all the "evidence" (usually none) about who is right and wrong.

Wake the fuck up!

Oookay. Maybe you'd like to point out

1) Where I belittle the suffering of anybody of any specific nationality,

2) Where I say anyone "deserves to die for politics,"

3) Where I take sides, and

4) Where I claim to be any kind of expert on the situation.

Read.
My.
Post.
Properly.

it's only been 36 hours and everybody is still fukcin nervous.
e randy is correct : he (as many of us i guess) will take side. and no one here is stupid enough for sayin that ther's some good side, as far as innocents die from each side.
but the fact is that isralei politic line these last months wasn't that great, and we all know that with this events, they'll be more and more insane, probably as insane as palestine reactions.
all this sucks. we cannot just "choose" one side ; it's too, too delicate to handle this way.

E. Randy Dupre. Your post is obviously biased towards the Palestinian dilema. If you can't see that I suggest you read your own post properly.

You mention nothing about there even being other possible versions of the events you describe. Are you Israeli or Palestinian? Do you have first hand knowledge of the situation? I doubt you do. So how can you presume to judge you the circumstances.

Your post infers a lot about your opinion. We don't always have to say exactly what we mean to be understood do we?

Where did I say that you said anyone deserves to die for politics? I didn't and that statement wasn't directed at you either.

So we can both infer and misinterperet language. Maybe I've misunderstood if so I apologise. Please clarify.

Nowhere does Randy actually suggest that he sympathises with the Palestinian cause - he merely points out that if the Israelis do proceed with aggression into Palestine, at this current juncture it seems unlikely that the 'international community' (Nato, the UN, the US, whoever) will do anything about it.

Get a grip, synth.

Let me make this simple for you. I'm saying that there's going to be very few concerned voices raised publicly if Israel decides to up the stakes. I'm saying that this is due largely to irresponsible media coverage.

I repeat for the hard of hearing - I'm not claiming to be an expert on the situation. Funny thing is, I didn't realise that this or my lack of first-hand experience automatically disqualified me from talking about it.

Less than two months ago, American news media were sympathetic to Palestine and major anti-Israeli sentiments were being publicly made. Six months ago, American news media were sympathetic to Israel and major anti-Palestinian sentiments were publicly made. Interestingly, Americans turned whichever way the media was telling them to turn, and in the great American tradition were shouting praises as loudly as they possibly could, changing at a moments notice, or as fast as the tube could change scenes.

I'm curious as to which way this is now going to go.

Who, if anyone, are they currently selling arms to? As the Palestinians see it, the US has supported (or, at least, failed to sufficiently intervene in the activities of) Israel.

Have you studied, in-depth, the Isreali-Palestine conflict?
