Texas, Georgia, whatever.

I think it's a bit unfair to characterize Peter by this embarassingly awful episode - by all accounts, he's been a gentleman for years now. It just sounds like he needs to go to rehab, badly. This might be "rock bottom".

It was more the fact that the cock-knocker couldn't tell the difference between the drinks trolley and a CD player that got me.

Arsewit.

My favorite bit though is

quote: Mr Buck denies one charge of being drunk on an aircraft last April

So um, if he wasn't drunk, then how does he explain his actions?

i've heard buck's a nice bloke, actually, and incredibly embarrassed by the whole incident. on one level the episode makes me laugh - how many thousand feet up was the plane when he tried to open the exit? - but having shared a 10 hour flight with a 'friend' who almost had a fight with another passenger, i'm rather hoping he gets rather a kick up the arse for this.

oh, and apparently a lot of people have been following this story - at the nelson mandela concert in trafalgar square just after it, buck got truckloads of yoghurt pots chucked at him.

I'd throw yoghurt pots at someone on a charge of 'damaging British Airways crockery'.

For some reason the phrase "I am REM" makes me think this was a case of mistaken identity and the culprit was actually BIZARRO PETER BUCK!

"Me am sorry!" bizarro told reporters. "Me fly in plane bad!"

wasn't there something in the paper about him taking some new medication and then drinking on top of it, which he blames for the whole incident?

that's the latest, yes. it looked like he was freaking out, big time, and apparently thought he was in 'some bizarre disneyland hotel' when in fact he was in a police cell.

now that's begging for some hilarious one-liners, if only i could think of some.....

Could there be any other kind of Disneyland hotel? Yeeks.

Bono has come to his defense, apparently.

"I have never ever seen him drunk," said Bono in court. "I have absolutely never seen him taking drugs. I just wanted to stand up and be counted. I don't know what must have happened to him. It is certainly a bizarre event and unusual. He is a very quiet man. It is hard to get him to go on tour because he loves his kids so much. I had to twist his arm to get him to a boxing match once because he thought it was too aggressive a sport."

Among other things, Buck is accused of toppling over a breakfast trolley, consuming 15 glasses of wine, causing yogurt to be spewed all over other passengers and hostesses, and attempting to exit the plane midflight. Buck has testified that he took a potent sleeping pill on departure and doesn't remember anything afterwards.

Benzodiazepines mixed with alcohol can have an unpredictably disinbiting effect, often leading to uncharacteristic aggression. His explanation's certainly a plausible one.

hey! Up and Reveal are pretty good records. Up in particular is quite good - "Suspicion", "Sad Professor", "Parakeet", "Lotus", "The Apologist" - those are very strong, accomplished songs.
