In other words, "HUH?"
Me, well I like to keep things on the cheap, but I've a nasty collectible card gaming habit. Couple that with the fact that my regular playing partners (there's three of us who get together almost weekly for a "three-way"--no rude jokes please!) tend to smoke copious amounts of the Merry-Js and the cost of this weekly habit adds up fast! Of course, they're both employed in somewhat well paying jobs, and I'm a "starving student," so more often than not, they supply the weed--and without complaint! What lovely friends they are.
That said, I try to avoid the temptation to go out and buy all the new expansion sets, and make due with the cards I've already got. But of course, I do tend to go on binges now and then!
I also enjoy shooting hoops, writing, reading, skateboarding, hammering out Sonic Youthy noise with the axe now and then, and cozying up with my sweetheart! And don't forget the porn!
Zoom you said, "I try to spend as much time as I can with my son. It's good to just play sometimes. I don't spend enough time doing that." And this I find touching in ways I can't even describe. I've no kids myself and don't think I ever will...so it's nice to hear about other people who enjoy parenthood. I think you'll raise a great human Zoom!
And when you say, "Really, I spend too much time trying to make money. Sadly, this isn't going to change for quite a while." I totally agree that it is sad, and it is even sadder that this is the plight of around 90% of us "modern Western world" people who are stuck in a more or less "free market, capitalist machine control mechanism." If ya' know what I mean!
The days of free (or cheap) entertaiment through spontaneous interaction of people seem to get darker all the time.
A good time to make some TAZ maybe (ala Hakim Bey)?
