with all this talk in the "anti-terrorism" bill about internet terrorism -- whatever the hell that means -- i'm now terrified that the FBI is going to kick my door in, drag me away, and hold me indefinately because of this. my satirical www.project-echelon.com site. any opinions? i guess there was a time i used to talk freely about "Ontological Terrorism"... hmm. Christ, come to think of it, a year or two ago i ran an unsuccesful yahoo group CALLED Ontological Terrorism.

fuck.

I live nearby -- I'll try to bail you out of prison. Unless you just become a nonperson and vanish.

I maintain at least a bit of hope that they're not gonna go around doing silly things like this.

thanks for the support.

i agree that it would be a silly -- a wildly silly -- thing to get in trouble for. i guess what im trying to figure out -- and checking whether anyone here knows -- is if it is something that is / could be construed as illegal, if it fits their definition of cyber-terrorism, etc. they nailed people fore VERY "silly" thing back in the Red Scare days...

Given that a senator interviewed on tonight's Newsnight made a point of referring to human rights in Soviet Russia (as in: we're not that bad!), that Red Scare reference mightn't be too far wrong.

Oh, when asked whether the nationality of the person made any form of difference to the way they were handled, the answer was "I hope it does!".

Erk.

But dumbass senator's say things like that at the best of times. Thankfully (well, HOPEFULLY), they won't prevail.

so has anyone figured out what the hell they mean by internet terrorism?

I would assume they mean things like hacking into other people systems, creating and spreading viruses, other bits of illegal systems penetration.

Well, unless you're the RCAA, then you're just defending copyright.

If you're arrested for ontological terrorism, then you absolutely have my support. I'm not really expecting this, but I know these things happen from time to time (in history).
