Amnesiac Journal: I Want to Teach The World To Sing

Bought the damn album.
Day One: First impression - It seems that I'll like "Kid A" better. Feel uneasy and fooled by studio trickery. Feel fooled by the similarity between "Knives Out" and "Paranoid Android". Feel like I've had enought of Yorke's moaning. But then there is "life in a glass house". "Life In A Glass House". My God, I am taken. I just want to lye somewhere dark and moist and drink my ass off. My God, those horns, and the part where Yorke goes: "only only only only..."
People are confused here in the front, but there's hope.

That was the one disappointing thing that disappointed me about their Oxford gig: they didn't play that track, despite Humphrey Littleton being in the house.

I agree about it being one of the most striking things on the album: it sounds like the last torch song of the night in a dingy speakeasy cabaret in Havana for terrified junkie mugwumps living in fear of the rapidly-closing-in secret police. And yet stoopid stoopid people like the guy at The Face dismiss it with Spinal Tap jokes just cos they can't cope with the idea of a 'rock' band doing a song with trumpets on. Tsk.

"Well of course I'd like to sit around and chat... but someone's listening in..."

It seems that my favorite songs on Amnesiac aren't really the ones that other people have attached themselves to. I fucking adore "You and Whose Army?", for personal reasons for relating to the lyrics a bit too well, and for the quiet intensity that the song has... that part at the end when the song hits that cresendo is just too much sometimes.

And what about "Like Spinning Plates"? I like that otherworldly vibe it has, like that guy from "Subterranean Homesick Alien" is finally up on that spaceship where he longed to be. and I love that lyric "while you make pretty speaches, I'm being torn to shreds"..

Day Two:Is Phil Selway Having Fun?
Got addicted to the non-voice that permeates "Pull/Pulk Revolving Doors". Tried to impersonate it, but failed miserably. Got somehow scared of the rhythms in the begginning of "Dollars and Cents". If I had a walkman or MD, I would be listening to this stuff all day long. The enemy is trying to divert us with meaningless decoys like "Hunting Bears", but we won't fall for that. We watched "Dead Man".
I remember that after listening three or 4 times to Kid A I got sick of it and could not stand that mocking voices echoing around.
I think that "In Limbo" with its lyrics "I'm lost at sea" would fit better in this album.
Is Phil Selway having fun? Banging the pottery in "Packt Like Sardines...", playing like a bluesman whose dog was shot in "Life in a Glass House"...
We may receive reinforcements soon. God bless you all.

I bought this with my shopping one dreary sunday in tescos.

"Dead Man", with Johnny Depp, directed by Jim Jarmusch, uses as soundtrack only Neil Young's slow gentle strokings on a guitar.
On and on and on. "Hunting Bears" really resembles this soundtrack.

Amnesiac Journal Day Three: It's Eating My Brain!!
"Dollars And Cents" it's eating out my brain!!! Strongest musical meme I've been ifected with since... since "Macarena", I think...
They should have made this song 11 minutes long, looping and looping in a crescendo that would end up blowing up your speakers.
I hate you radiohead, for making me like scary shit. (No wait, Univers Zero were responsible for that).
