I'm bored - I want some music. I'm going to pop out and buy some. You have an hour, if you feel like it, to come up w/ something skill for me to buy. Nothing in a nu metal/trance/hard house vein.

I love you.

You are fantastic.

Thankyou very much.

well, do you want something brand-new/released today, or just anything.

because if you don't already own the avalanches, it's become kind of, well, compulsory. best album of last year!

i can't recommend it enough.
i'll refund you if you don't like it!

Okay...Hmmm, not really that into them. They're OK (I've heard the album a coupla times and it's nice...), but I'm not sure.

Think of this as an album pimping thread, to compliment the single pimping one. Only a little bit different in that it revolves around me. Which is great.

Thanks again.

Aaah, got the Boards, but the old oxen sounds like it could be fun. Haven't bought much "beard-hop (TM)".... Ooookay, that's one neato suggestion - let's go for two!

Hmmm. I've got a list of wanted albums as long as my arm but it seems that whenever I go to the record store its for one particular album that they dont have (even if they had it yesterday). Whenever this happens, instead of buying one of the other albums on my list, I buy a couple magazines that come with comp CDs. Do that if you cant find anything and the money starts to scorch your pockets.

God, thanks Nikon and Autopilot.

Drinking tea, eh? Lucky bastards. I presume the whole 'drinking tea' thing doesn't involve work at all? I really want to be unemployed again, but I also really want the money to be able to start (and follow through w/) threads like this one... Bugger.
Both of you are Brightoners, then? Aaah, the unemployed, dossing... the Brighton tea drinking.... scummy flats (not accusing you of any of the above, you understand. Except, that is, for the tea drinking)...

Memories.....

I think I might go w/ Peaches. Been meaning to check her out.

Actually, I've discovered that, like the company I work for, I have exactly 0 pence in my bank account. Time for overdrafts, methinks.... And more fun debt.

I was gonna go for the Cornelius album. But thanks for yr recommendations, guys.

Am I too late to add my tuppence? my favourite album of last year was "Run Come Save Me" by Roots Manuva. In fact, both of his albums are utterly unique and brilliant and everyone should own them. the new New Flesh album is damn good too, can't remember the title though. All available on Big Dada.

Yeah, well....any recommendations are welcome, but I'm gonna have to wait a couple weeks until I can act on them.

Hey, fuck it, I'm gonna recommend some stuff right back:

Electroclash compilation: get it. Great overview of the poncey nu-electro pop scene.

Plus-tech Squeeze Box - 'Fake Vox': insane Japanese fun. Like Bentley Rythm Ace if they were good + poppy punk rock + cute mangababe vocals.

I forget who it's by, but - 'Yensei Punk': Japannese (?) throat singing goes pop. Well.... nearly. Nice, weird, gutteral tunes. Very accessible.

Scott Walker - 'Scott 2': Just because everyone should own a few Frank Sinatra-style Big Band numbers about suicide, existential angst and red light districts.

John Richman - 'I, Jonathan': yeah, I'm always going on about this one, but IT WILL MAKE YOUR LIFE BETTER, SO GO AND BUY IT.

Burnt Friedman - 'Plays Love Songs': rude, radio 4 style story bits, the gently beautiful 'I've got Your Love To Keep Me Warm' and the wonderful 'Sex is not right'...
Not tonight.

I saw a programme with Bruce Dickinson last night. He has done an album about Alchemy featuring lyrics lifted from Blake.

ABSOLUTELY SHIT!!! I'M GOING TO GET IT IMMEDIATELY- WAS HILARIOUS!!! SORRY GOING ALL KNOWLEDGE!!!!

Seriously, it was like post-modern Spinal Tap, devoid of Irony. The album is called The Chemical Wedding (!!) I think. Please buy it- it's better than anything even by Sklent.

The Natural Way
11:25 / 25.02.02
Even by Sklent?

Never. Stupid giant, what's come over you?

Yeah, it will be the "Chemical (Chymical?) Wedding" - it's an alchemical term/text.

Sounds amazing. Your enthusiasm for how rubbish it will be is very funny, BTW.

He starts reciting Jerusalem and then the chorus kicks in:

'The rain, the rain, here comes the rain!'.

In a perfect David St Hubbins voice- it is the Stone Henge rock opera acted out for real, while simulataneously shafting some of Grande Bretagne's most famous pieces of prose- and it was on a religious proramme ... presented by the token Northerner himself, Andy Kershaw.

Must see TV- in the flesh!!
