I'm a fan of the track by Soulwax w/ Intergalactic mixed over Herbie Hancock's "Rockit", INXS' "Need You Tonight" and, erm, "Back In Black". Funny as hell - fun at parties, amaze your friends.

This is utter genius. It's 8:30 AM, I haven't had my coffee yet, my headphones are on and my cube-mates are wondering why I'm fighting back tears of laughter.

I just about died when the INXS kicked in. This is a fabulous track!

Has anyone found a good stateside vendor for the 2 Many DJs disc? I'd love to get it but am a bit shy about the UK->US postal robbery, I mean, shipping charge. I've done the obvious searches, so no need to bother with Amazon recommendations or the like.

I want to alert you all to one of the best new boots I've heard in a bit - it's "Sure Shot" by the Beastie Boys over the music of "Lust For Life" by Iggy Pop, segued into "Last Nite" by the Strokes, with an outro of "This Charming Man" by the Smiths.

that sounds jaw-droppingly good.

If you can't download it yrself, PM me, I'll hook you up.

Does anyone know if the Soulwax from Belgium who are so big in boots (hey, nice title for a mix!) are the same Soulwax who did the album (IIRC) 'Much Against Everyone's Advice'?

This thread has been around for a while now, and the links are constantly changing or being taken down, it's beyond my control.

If you want me to hook you up, you should PM me.

I'm not crazy about that NIN/Spice Girls mix, it's promising, but extremely sloppy. If yr looking for a good boot mix of NIN's "Closer", I would like to point you in the direction of NIN "Closer" Vs. Daft Punk "Da Funk"...

Half the fun of the Spice Girls boot is knowing that it has probably annoyed goth kids the world over...that plus the amusement factor of "I'll tell you what I want what I really, really want - I want to fuck you like an animal" is what makes Closer to Spice...

When are you going to release your Le Tigre v. Limp Bizkit tracks, Flux?

I claim Rizla's shiny coin (albeit slightly tarnished) and recommend he (and anyone else who has been reading this thread) goes and gets this mix. (Click on the paper bag on the guy's head.

Rizla was offering the money for the breeders/skee-lo/eye of the tiger track. Well it's on this CD (2manydjs by Soulwax), except minus Eye of the Tiger (teh Survivor track).

There is an explanation of how the CD was put together and licensed on the website, and oddly enough, we have George Bush Jr to blame for the track not coming out as it was. Apparently, he used Eye of the Tiger on the campaign trail, which left Survivor so pissed off they now won't license anything to anyone anymore.

But anyway, you have to get this CD. There's a bit where Fuck the Pain Away by Peaches mixes into Waiting for the Man by the Velvet Underground which mixes into Dance To The Music by Sly and the Family Stone which is just an absolutely brilliant two minutes of music; theres the Stooges No Fun vs Salt and Pepa's Push It; there's all sort of weird shit on there, and it's absoluetly brilliant.

Oh my god - this bootleg mix of David Bowie "Let's Dance" with the vocals of Pink's "Let's Get This Party Started" is sooooooooooo good that it's sick. Sick. You've got to hear this one...

Also fucking brilliant:

J. Lo and Ja Rule "I'm Real" vs Jimi Hendrix "Crosstown Traffic"

Kylie "Can't Get You Out of My Head" vs. Happy Mondays "24 Hour Party"

These are probably three of the best boots I've heard.

Yes. The J-Lo/Ja/Jimi one is wonderful, opened today's radio show with it. I'd also give a lot of props to the Craig David-Fill Me In/Eye of the Tiger mix that I've got kicking around, and Michael Jackson's Bad over Ghostbusters.

But greatest of all is Osymyso's Intro-Inspection. 12 minutes, 101 song intros, one track. And it's great; brought a friend the vinyl (strictly limited edition) for his birthday. So much of it would work as a track on its own.

Like, say, the mix Baby one More Time and Walk on the Wild Side that crops up...

The bowie/pink tune is cool Flux -

Anyone know where I can get the Bad/Ghostbusters one and the Baby one More Time and Walk on the Wild Side track?

Another new bootleg which is utterly essential: Olive "You're Not Alone" Vs. Radiohead "Idioteque". It's really, really well done.

Another old one...but still fun. My name iz start mixes up The Jam with Eminem. It's a white label release by 'Banana Kru' - which I believe is Basement Jaxx trying to avoid litigation over uncleared samples.

All hail the glory of Boom Selection, who have solicited bootleg mixes of the new Eminem single, "Without You". They've started posting the best of what they've been getting - and some of them are really fab. I can say without hesitation that the best of the bunch is the one over the music of "Come On Eileen", because it's just so perfectly done and boppy and joyous. I'm pretty keen on the Led Zepelling "Wanton Song" mix, which is cut up just right, and just rocks like crazy. The Kylie mix starts off pretty strong, and is generally pretty good, but wears me out a bit. The Human League "Don't You Want Me" mix is an interesting failure - the mixer slowed down the vocals too much, and is sloppy with matching up Eminem with the beat. The one pairing it up with Michael Jackson's "Burn This Disco Out" is marred by slowed-down vocals too, but does win some points with me for being a less-than-obvious MJ tune to bootleg. There's a good electro bootleg (mixed with FC Kahuna) which is musically good, but the vocals are slowed down too... ah, what are you gonna do?

I still haven't actually heard the original version of "Without You" just yet, so the mix with the X-Ecutioners which only uses the instrumental and not the a cappella is an interesting one - it just sounds like a good hip hop song to my ears without knowing either song. It sounds like Dre did a good job on this track, I wonder how the origininal compares to all these boots.

Anybody see the article on boom selecta in spin this month? ( The one with Moby on the cover) I picked it up and read the article. I then picked up eye magazine ( a Toronto tabloid ) and they featured an aricle on Boom Selecta as well!!!

I feel Barbelith had much to do with this...

Although the man who wrote about Boom Selection in SPIN is a mostly-lurking member of Barbelith, I really don't think Barbelith had much to do with any of the press hype about the bootleg phenomenon.

Hi all

Anyone heard the new version of CLEANING OUT MY CLOSET? The jacknife lee mix turns the lullaby rap into a hard rocking jam! Check it out on boomselecta.

My question is: Is there another bootleg source apart from boomselecta? They seem to have been pillaged...

Glad this topic got pushed back up to the top. I followed it at the time, but didn't have the means to download any of the tracks. So now I'm desperately behind the times, but happy.

Fly:
3: the vocals from Ol' Dirty Bastard's 'Got Your Money' over some incredibly familiar guitar riff I can't place (sounds sorta 80s).

The only one I've come across so far is a mix with All Saint's Pure Shores - here.

I don't think any of these have appeared in this thread so far. Current favourite is a mix of The Cure's Close to Me with Independent Women.

Some other sites for Rex:

Bastard Pop
McSleazy
Magic Cornflake's

I'd also like to take this opportunity to say that I'm not at all happy with hearing that Bob Dylan has decided to start using an electric guitar. Judas.

Utterly ESSENTIAL bootleg - Britney Vs Daft Punk, courtesy of Go Home Productions. It's disco heaven.

Thanks for the ODB Vs All Saints, Randy. That's a major keeper.

Flux - you're so right. That is a tune and a half. And it's the perfect remix - a song which had no tune into a song with the greatest bass known to man.

Had a great time Sunday morning downloading some stuff on one of the Boom Selecta blokes sites, Eminem vs. The Orb, and the Bjork 'Hidden Place' remix thing is nice n' soulfull.

Fairly certain that everyone else has heard these by now (like I say, I'm playing catch-up at the moment), but if not, these are some of the tracks which have got me totally addicted:

Skee-lo vs The Beatles (I Wish / Hey Bulldog)
Destiny's Child vs Nirvana (Bootylicious / Smells Like Teen Spirit)
Eminem vs Britney (The Real Slim Shady / .. Baby One More Time)
Missy Elliott vs Joy Division (Get Yr Freak On / Love Will Tear Us Apart)
Madonna vs The Cure (Ray of Light / Friday I'm in Love)

There's also Eminem vs Basement Jaxx vs Michael Jackson (Without Me / Where's Your Head At / Bad) and Missy Elliott vs Dee-Lite vs Basement Jaxx (She's a Bitch / Groove is in the Heart / Jus 1 Kiss) - can't be bothered tracking the link down at the moment, sorry - which are so utterly stupid they get a grin every time.

Absolutely bloody loving this.

Have any 'lithers made their own bootleg mixes?

Not yet. But there's something really nagging me to do a Heaven is a Place On Earth/Living on a Prayer/I Feel Love one. Maybe no Donna Summer... but the first two are so perfect it's untrue.
