I'm a big fan of the Jam Band style. I just finally got hipped to this guy Keller Williams. A one guitar kind of guy, but he plays like a fucking demon, sounds like two. He has a great song about Scooby Doo ("damn those meddling kids"). You should go to his site and check him out . I've been downloading stuff like mad.Keller Williams

Total agreement. Keller absolutly rocks.
I'd gotten dragged out a few years back by some friends, who'd said, "you won't believe what this guy can do with a 12 string". As amazing as the recordings are, you've got to see him live if you get the chance, and he hits the festival circuit pretty regularly. He puts out this vibe of "I can't believe I'm lucky enough to be able to make a living playing for all these cool people," and yet manages to do it without being a sap. A KW show or Keller Williams Incident, in which he fronts for the String Cheese Incident, is not to be missed.

BTW, he has a new album coming out in Feb, pop by his site and listen to his new song Freeker by the Speaker.

It's been a very long time since I had a favorite song, and today I just decided this is it. It's really, very FUCKING HOT!

Somehow I never really expected to hear about KW on this site. Or any of the jambands, acctually (except for the occasional slam on Phish).

For those who're wondering, KW's most common comparison is to Michael Hedges. He even does a song about the guy. Fun shows with a kind of chaotic playing style. He's been using loops for the last year or two live. So that he can mix in bass and drums (ussually a djembe) into the songs. A long with the mouth flugel (sp?) which is basically him imitating the sound of a flugel horn with his mouth. All the loops are built live though, and it is kind of fun to watch him build a song up.

My friend used to do his site, before SCIfidelity took it over. And he's hooked me up with a few shows. Good music for driving on a spring afternoon, with the windows rolled down.
