Okay, what the fuck is going on? There is a J Lo/Ja Rule record out and it's actually good? "Ain't it funny" has J Lo sounding like a real singer, and Ja Rule at least doesn't annoy. Plus he shouts: "It! Must! Be the ass!" which could be a phrase to live by.
Seriously though, commercial R&B is soooo hot just now. This, Blu Cantrell, Mystikal (pretty much R&B really), Timbaland, Neptunes are pretty much all I'm listening to just now. There's so much invention, genuinely good songs and plain ol' killer melodies and rhythms. I genuinely believe we're in the middle of a motown-style golden age for soul. |
