bandwidth: HELP! (Tom? Anyone?)

Please excuse my vast ignorance when it comes to the nuts and bolts of the internet: I've only rough and sketchy ideas of how this all works! My questions:

How is bandwidth used? Am I using bandwidth (costing you money) every time I move around the site (go to different threads and areas, etc.) or is bandwidth only used through posting or does posting use more bandwidth than merely reading and browsing?

Unfortunately, I'm not in a very good position to send you money through the pay-pal to help upkeep the site, but I am willing to try to use bandwidth in a more responsible manner, if only I know how it does get used in the first place!

Cheers!

Every single thing that involves you downloading stuff from the barbelith server uses bandwidth. That means every page on barbelith.com you visit, everything you post, every image that's located on barbelith's servers that another site calls into their pages.

As a matter of course this is no longer such a big deal since we set up the donation service. But basically - yes - you're using barbelith bandwidth all the time you do anything here...
