Just saw some live footage of this band on MTV or M2. I think I like them.

Do they sound like Mission of Burma or what?

Please. God. No.

If you knew how often my roomates insisted on playing this CD, you would understand, surely.

They're OK, I guess. But I don't think they're doing anything that hasn't been done before.

Thoughts?

I like them too. Not ground-breaking obviously, but jolly good fun.

Some of my friends keep playing their album, and even though it's a bit MTV friendly, I can't help but admit that it's really, really good stuff.

Their first single was kind of an At the Drive-In style angry thing - a sound which is getting progressively more tedious - but the rest of the LP seems to be far more enjoyable pop punk with a little bit of emotional intelligence and absurdly good melodies.

Nice. If I had more money I'd get my own copy.

(how long before Flux leaps in to lambast them for being too 'emo' )

bah i'll say before Flux, kinda, they USED to be oh so fuckin' wanna be emo... now not as emoish, more of that poppy stuff, i think they were barred from the EMO scene when they became too poppy and provided a song to some fox teen age show (Time of Your Life, i do think) i can't belive everyone is up in arms about them now, guh so frikkin' old... but that's what i get for emersion my self in emo way back when so i could "know my enemy"... what Cds got'cha down FFF? the new one, Bleed America, yeah it bugs the shite outta me if played too much

One of my exes used to be on and on about them a few years ago. I always thought they were okay in that sort of "background music" way.

Though I rather identify with the new single, "The Middle."

Sorry to veer off topic, but oi Grant.

Are you Grant Morrison? If so, I rate you, man.

If you're not Grant Morrison... what the hell, you only live once. I still rate you, man.

I'm the OTHER grant. If you click the little guy next to the file card above me posts, you can find out more.

On topic, I didn't know they'd been around for more than a year. I do know they sound *a lot* like seminal Bostonian punks Mission of Burma live. To the point that when I first saw the concert footage, I thought it was some punk historical documentary, and wondered why I hadn't heard that song before.

Catchiness counts.

I saw them live a couple of days ago with Weezer and Tenacious D and they didn't sound a damn thing like Mission of Burma. In fact, they pretty much sound like how everyone else in the slightly underground scene sounds like. Highly boring.
