...and I think you might like it. Here's what's on it:
1. Band Aid - "Do They Know It's Christmas"

2. Run DMC - "Christmas In Hollis"

3. Eurythmics - "Winter Wonderland"

4. George Michael - "Last Christmas"

5. Jimmy Buffet - "Christmas Island"

6. Ramones - "Merry Christmas (I Don't Want to Fight Tonight)"

7. Adam Sandler - "The Hannakah Song"

8. Sting - "Gabriel's Message"

9. Heart - "Blue Christmas"
(this was actually supposed to be the Elvis version but I fucked up)

10. Elton John - "Step Into Christmas"

11. Bing Crosby - "Mele Kilikimaka"

12. The Waitresses - "Christmas Wrapping"

13. ??? - "Snoopy's Christmas (Snoopy vs. The Red Baron)"

14. Billie Holiday - "I've Got My Love to Keep Me Warm"

15. Cheech & Chong - "Santa Claus & His Old Lady"

I think there's two more songs on there that I'm forgetting, but the point is, if you would be interested in a fun little Christmas album for your holiday gathering, get in touch with me and I'll send you one. You should have it within two weeks I'd say.

Merry Christmas!

<cringes violently, like a vampire exposed to sunlight>
HIIIISSSSSS........!

um .. apart from that it sounds nice though.

And 'Christmas at the Zoo' by the Flaming Lips is absolutely essential for any endevour of this kind.

Hmm.

No 'Fairytale of New York'? If I was recording a Christmas album that'd definitely be on it.

I do actually have this ongoing scheme, which occurs to me every November or so, to put together a kind of alternative christmas album, preferably without all the sugary crap that winds up on most collections. Trouble is, I always end up with only about four songs - the aforementioned 'Fairytale', 'Wintertime Love' by The Doors, 'Christmas with the Devil' by Spinal Tap, and a cover version of 'Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas' which Tori Amos did on the b-side of one of the Spark singles.

I think I could be persuaded to put some of these tracks on there, but 'Last Christmas' (by Wham!, btw, not George Michael)? The Band Aid song? Good god, no!

So any other ideas?

On a related - and very frightening note - a trawl through the local branch of Music Zone the other week has revealed that Barbra Streisand has released a christmas album.
Can there be anything in this world more terrifying than the prospect of having to listen to such an abomination?

Yes, I realize that many songs chosen for this Christmas CD are cheesy, but I feel that is part of the fun of Christmas songs.

Anyhoo, I finished burning copies for those who asked this weekend. PM me your addies and I'll send them out hopefully this afternoon.
