Hmm.
No 'Fairytale of New York'? If I was recording a Christmas album that'd definitely be on it.
I do actually have this ongoing scheme, which occurs to me every November or so, to put together a kind of alternative christmas album, preferably without all the sugary crap that winds up on most collections. Trouble is, I always end up with only about four songs - the aforementioned 'Fairytale', 'Wintertime Love' by The Doors, 'Christmas with the Devil' by Spinal Tap, and a cover version of 'Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas' which Tori Amos did on the b-side of one of the Spark singles.
I think I could be persuaded to put some of these tracks on there, but 'Last Christmas' (by Wham!, btw, not George Michael)? The Band Aid song? Good god, no!
So any other ideas?
On a related - and very frightening note - a trawl through the local branch of Music Zone the other week has revealed that Barbra Streisand has released a christmas album.
Can there be anything in this world more terrifying than the prospect of having to listen to such an abomination? |
