Ok, the members mostly have names derived from the insect kingdom (butterfly? ladybug? I think??), they are kind of gentle jazzy hip-hop with a social conscience... they had a particularly memorable song about the fucked-up and classist attitude toward abortion... for some reason, the name reminds me of inspiral carpets, though it is probably nothing like that at all...kind of long-winded name if I recall correctly... can anyone help?

If I'm not mistaken, you're thinkin' of THE DIGABLE PLANETS. They were a jazzy hip-hop band with insect names (one of them was called Doodlebug, from memory). They had at least 1 album. it had a really long title (i think) but i can't remember what it was called at the moment. They had a single called 'Cool Like Dat', which was pretty good.

The album that I heard, by the way, is called - Reachin' (a new refutation of time and space). I just looked them up on Amazon...they have a couple of others, too.

ahhh.... laidback easy hip hop native tongue continuity...
"Reachin' (A New Refutation of Time and Space)" is the first album. "Blowout Comb" is the second, and, to me, the best they did. maybe you got ask Tyrone on this one.
butterfly, the nice flow of the crew, did a top featuring on the classic "luchini (this is it)" from Camp Lo, back in... 95? 94? 96?, on the flipside, not on luchini. dope, really.
and and and and and and i've heard about a coming back around 3 or 4 years but never see anything. news, anyone ?
