The following was just posted to the Shane MacGowan email list. Discuss.

quote:
Yes folks, the rumors are TRUE. I have it from Spider himself. Six dates
for the Pogues reunion have been established:

December 16: Manchester Apollo
17: SEC Glasgow
18: Birmingham Academy
20: The Point, Dublin
21: Brixton Academy, London
22: Brixton Academy, London

No, I do not know of any other dates.. I asked Spider about the US and he
said, "We'll see how these go." When I asked if the entire band was doing
this, he said, "It's the whole nine yards." I will be posting this info
along with anything else I get on the
Vendettas site.

'Zat with Shane as well? At Christmas?

Cool.

Let's just hope a: it's true; and b: that Shane stays sober enough to sing.

Sober? Hahhahahahahahaha

It's been confirmed by Shane's camp. The line-up will be the group from '86-91. Basically, their Island years. Shane's apparently said that it will only be these shows, and nothing beyond that. We'll see what happens though. (Shane's never been keen on the idea of a reunion. Prevailing opinion is he's probably doing this for a combination of cash, and as a favor to Spider, who's been looking for a reunion since the band split up)

I caught Shane last Dec. and he looked great. Stood up for the whole show, remembered all the lyrics, and all and all seemed to be having a great time. Word from shows since then, have been along those lines (except for the show where he threw up on stage, but even then, it didn't stop him from finishing the show) There's also been less then a handful of shows where he didn't show up in the past year.

He's still a drunk, but it looks like he might be turning into a functioning drunk.

I should know. I was there that night at The Vic. He was in top form, and, & slow + low, he leaned over and puked. The thing that was really weird was that a roadie picked the bar rag up and did one of those "To The Highest Bidder" kinds of things. That's what really kind of pissed me off.
