For the last two year or so I’ve been playing one CD over and over: Shri Durga by DJ Cheb i Sabbah. I really respond to these remixed ragas. So where do I go from here? Can any of you lot recommend other artists with a similar groove?

Two particular recommendations:

Bill Laswell – Lo Def Pressure
This is a Belgian import that I found in Virgin (of all places). It's not on Axiom but a label called Quatermass. The cover is white with a pencil drawing of Ganesh dancing on a lous flower.

Tabla Beat Science – Tala Matrix
This one's on Axiom Records. Includes Talvin Singh and Zakir Hussain. The cover is predominantly red & black, with a blue Ganesh seated in the lotus position upon a boombox.

They are fierce

There's a new album out now, I think: Krishna Lila is on Six Degrees Records. Info here. Was pretty good - almost postrock in some ways.
