What kind of drum machines do you dig?

And for what kind of music?

What an odd topic... still.

I like the 606's hihats... they sound cold, yet groovy none the same.

The cr78 sounds daft in a lot of places, but used appropriately they can be damned funky.

I love the Roland TR-909. My brother has custody of the (slightly damaged) one he and I got hold of a few years ago, and I miss it dearly. The sound of the 909 is the epitome of Detroit techno, and the user interface makes it posible to use one as a 'live' instrument.

I'm less keen on Roland's Groovebox series - although they do contain the original 909 sounds (along with a number of others). There seems to be something tinny and weak about the hi-hats and the kicks and I would be more inclined to spend my money on a computer and some good softsynths (Reaktor springs to mind).

Does anyone know what kind of drum machine is being used on most of the Outkast "Stankonia" LP, specifically on "I'll Call Before I Come"? I'd really like to acquire one of those, whatever it is...

I've never owned a drum machine before...I've programmed beats on my keyboard, and made beats on my KORG sampler and rhythm synth, but that's it...

?

That is fabulous news, if that's true...I just got one of those for $100 over the weekend, on the condition that I have to pay for the neccessary repairs myself..(the AC adapter input jack is loose)
