Okay, opinions?
I am listening to Hot Shots part II and it's foxing me a bit. The emotional content in each track is completely contradictory and messed up - bittersweet seems a rather bland way of describing but it's the closest I can come up with.

Geniuses? Tossers? Mundane? Overhyped? What?

Overhyped, definately.

I like them and all, but I really don't see how they're quite as important and revolutionary as everyone makes out, they're just like a better version of Alfie..

I'm a bit behind in that I ignored them for ages and only bought The Three EPs last month (can't go wrong for £3.99) to see what all the fuss was about.

And, yes, it's really good, isn't it?

I do kind it kind of difficult, but only in that it's so much more laid back and coffee-tabley and, well, un-intense than my usual listening.

But they still get my seal of approval.

Up until a month or so ago, I'd never heard the Beta Band, and a friend made a copy of the new album for me because he knew I was going to see them open for Radiohead in a few weeks. I like the record, it's okay. I really really like the song "Eclipse", the rest I just think is pleasant. They surely don't suck, but they don't really rock my world either. I like their light hearted lyrics, for sure.

Flux, you might want to try The Three EPs - it's a more diverse, ambitious collection of songs than the new album, which is much more conservative in style. Still good, just not quite as good.

Yeah, I was interested in hearing them, but unless someone wants to hook me up with them for free, I probably won't be buying something like that for a looooooooooooong time. I've got a list a mile long of things I'm more interested in buying, and the coming weeks bring me new releases by Preston School of Industry, Stereolab, Solex, and Spiritualized...I'm going to be swamped for a while to come...

I saw them open for Radiohead. I didn't smoke cigarettes and talk with my friends I just sat on the hill and listened. My reaction; shrug. On with the main show.
