Although not a fan of Peel or his show, even I couldn't be rude about him - purely on the strength of the Nirvana radio sessions.
Last time I listened to his show, I was turned off by the Fall but went out and bought some Beefheart, so it was a fifty-fifty.
As for how do you do 'it', I get exposed to a lot of stuff via music journalism and recommendations. Even though it's mostly local mags and fanzines, you can pick up (get sent to) some good stuff.
You drown in an avalanche of shite as well, mind.
