Anyone else heard the album 'Since I Left You'? I was hoping, from the single 'Frontier Psychiatrist' for an album of crazed KLF-style japery, but instead it's rather unremarkable dance music. A definite case of putting the best track out as a single.

What? WHAT?

A more coherent response is currently beyond me...

At times, it's great - see: frontier Psychiatrist, Tonight, Two Hearts in 3-4 Time (what a title)... but much of it is really, really forgettable.

The whole album, then, isn't very good. It's all very clever... but really, I couldn't be arsed.

I was considering getting it. Thanks for helping me to save money!

(I have no willpower outside of talking myself out of purchases for critical reasons)

Yeah, you're all right, it's a bit unremarkable (barring the aforementioned highlights), but -

It's perfect background music. If you're having a get-together at your place, and everybody's happily buzzing around, chatting and generally shooting the breeze, it's a good, up, floaty, friendly-mood-encouraging-kind of album.

There. I said it.

went down quiet well.

Typical indieboy nonsense. Is it a coincidence that 'Frontier...' is the one track that you can't dance to?

Ha! If they had put Rock City ("legs like machetes!") on the album you wouldn't be so snooty.

Better than the ChemBros, any day.

Well that's cemented my lack of enthusiasm.

FUCK background music.

Frontier Psychiatrist is great beyond words though, isn't it?

Yes it is, though get me pissed and you'll see I can't dance to anything. Who's wearing that fiction suit? I can only assume that it's no-one I know because otherwise you'd know I'm more of an electronica/dance music fan than I am an Indie fan these days.

And what about that latin beat bit at the end, you could surely dance to that?

I reckon that depends on what's in the foreground. I always keep a selection of music I only ever listen to when I'm writing and drawing, if it's too intrusive it distracts from my concentration, if it's 'background music' it can set a particular tone/mood that filters into what you're doing in some way. Avalanches CD is pretty good for this.
