Mix Tape Jam #7 (?) : Shut the door, baby...

Cherry Bomb
16:18 / 16.11.01
OK this is the sexy romantic tape. And I am starting it off with Ben Harper's "The Woman In You," sexy, slow, romantic with some lovely lines like

Did I hear you say
That you believe in angels?
I guess I bring
the devil out in you
But we can both remove our halos
'Cuz even angels need love too

***

..but you're so
you're so
iiinocent..

I'll take ALL the blame..

For some reason this song either reminds me of King Mob and Ragged Robin, and also it makes me think of being entwined with a lover in a darkish hotel room. And Ben's sexy voice MAKES it!

Interlude. The Afghan Whigs - 'Sweet Son Of A Bitch'

3. The Afghan Whigs - '66'

Have to explain this one: 'Sweet Son Of A Bitch' is really just the intro to the song '66', and consists just of distorted moans and someone whispering "sweet son of a bitch", but it's listed as a separate track on the album (1965 - go buy it). So we need that to lead in...

Then '66' itself is... well, it's the Whigs doing what they do best. The acoustic guitar sounds funky for once, the piano tinkles away, and Greg Dulli sings:

You walked in
Just like smoke
With a little come on, come on, come on
In your walk
Well, come on
I've been waitin'
Are you waitin?
For my move, well I'm makin' it
So tell me baby, can you shake it?
If I can move it with ya
Will you let me take it?
I'll be down on my knees
Screamin' take me, take me, take me, take me
I'm yours
I've never felt so out of control
You don't even know what you're doin' to me
Come on and do it to me
Don'tcha stop
Come on, come on
Come on little rabbit
Show me where you got it
'Cuz I know you got a habit...

This tape has absolutely got to have Isaac Hayes doing I Stand Accused on it.

Je suis venu te dire que je m'en vais by Serge Gainsbourg has to be on there somewhere...probably at the end. Sounds romantic, until you actually listen to the lyrics.

Surf song?
Sex?

Excellent!

Los Marauders - You make me come in my pants.

It's a dirty, dirty sax going over a junkyard rock-n-roll band, old 50s chords that you'd see the bikers dance to around the bonfire in a black-and-white juvenile delinquency film. Or maybe John Waters.
The only words happen after the instrumental verse, when all the instruments except the standup bass stop cold, and the "singer" mutters into the mike... "You make me come in my pay-unts..." as the bassline descends.

It's brilliantly filthy.

[BIt's brilliantly filthy.[/B]

As is the title cut (or the rest of the CD for that matter) to Andre Williams' "The Black Godfather" That dude's in his 70's and has got more Moxie that a dozen guys half his age. I mean, look at the guy!

Not much on the romantic side, but sexy? Heeeeelll yeaaaaah!!

"Are You on the Outside or the Inside Of Your Pants?" by the Makers; good timeless r'n'r about sex.

Side Two!

1. Busta Rhymes - 'It's All Good'

Porno rap. An ode to wordless shagging.

"Have you ever went over your freak's house to chill
And the both of you understood
That y'all could chill with the talking 'cos y'all were straight fucking
And for both of y'all, it's all good..."

Would appear to include Busta admitting his willingness to 'toss the salad'. Warning: some may find the salacious and rampantly heterocentric nature of this track rather offensive.

Continuing that porn theme "Porno Star" by Buckcherry

If possible I'd like to throw on "Mona Lisa" by Butter 08 (Cibo Matto/Blues Explosion Hybrid). It doesn't have any words but it just has this squealy guitar riff occasionally, coupled with guitars that get louder and louder 'til the end of the song, and a haunting voice saying "Monaaaaa Liiiiisaaaaa... throughout the whole song, building up to kind of I guess a climax/release moment.

I always feel like I should be fucked out of my head at some dirty party with almost everyone gone home, and me and the cute scruffy boy next to me smoke a bowl and... one thing leads to another.

On second thought, scratch that. I want to take this whole thread out of the porno gutter and bring us straight into candy apple puppy bubblegum love. Thus, Destiny's Child new cover of the Bee-Gees' "Emotion." It's sticky, it's sweet, it's strangely sexy in soft way.

Resurrecting these mixtape things because I've nothing better to do, and because it's a shame to leave them unfinished... So to speed things up, Cherry can have both choices above, so that we're now on:

7. Peaches - 'AA XXX'

Sleazy electro-filth domme rap... it's like Lil' Kim crossed with Bikini Kill (sort of).

"I like the innocent type
Deer in the headlights..."

Yummy. 'Nuff said.

No star here laces
14:26 / 14.01.02
9. Eazy E - "Gimme that nutt"

Nobody, but nobody does sleaze like eazy e. Guy died of AIDS for fucks sakes. Tacky, crude and all about mindless fucking, or more accurately about squirting his dirty infected man-juice into as many warm holes as possible, the swine. Peaches wishes...

Jackie Susann
19:59 / 14.01.02
Good to see the board's stepped up from rape jokes to AIDS jokes...

Anyway, dragging us back from sleaze towards romance, my vote is for Aaliyah's 'One in a Million" - her voice is beautiful, from the opening "love it babe/love it babe" refrain, to the unusually suggestive (for Aaliyah) chorus, "your love is a one in a million, it goes on and on and on, you gave me a really good feeling, all day long". The early Timbaland production got called 'lover's jungle' a lot, and that's basically what it sounds like - slow, lush, syncopated, drifting... anyway, I just really like this song, that is the real reason it's going here.

If anyone ACTUALLY wants to compile this, I'm willing to mp3 the Los Marauders track off my cassette and email it.

Or just copy the tape it's on and send it as CD.
