"Are you mocking me? I SHALL NOT BE MOCKED!"

Anyway I'd imagine everyone knew about the elvis/ clash one. The kinks/ sleater-kinney one maybe less so. Theres a lot of tribute covers out there and I was hoping everyone else would post some of their favorites.

I'm not mocking - it really is enlightening to see how bands who form part of my musical universe have paid homage to previous generations. Both the examples you've shown above I wasn't previously aware of, despite being a great fan of both covers.

There must be a bajillion novelty albums based on "Meet the Beatles".

and "Never Mind the Bollocks," for that matter.

Then there's Laibach's very conscious 'Let It Be' cover:

But the Rolling Stones weren't being quite so up front when they released their 'Satanic Majesty' on the heels of 'Sgt. Pepper'.

Maybe they just used the same design team....

Never knew the London Calling/Elvis connection. That's cool.

Didn't somebody just do the banana cover thing based on Velvet Underground "Andy Warhol" cover?

OK, so this is from an inside cover, but I think it still counts. I hope this works, I've gone to the trouble of digging out the CDs, installing the scanning software, scanning them in, uploading them to my webspace, and worked out how to link in the 'lith... Here goes:
