One of my mates pulled out last minute. The first person to PM me can have it for £12.00 (I paid £17.00). Or buy me drinks all day if you're going to the Barbemeet at the Jorene Celeste...

And the winner is... Ellis!

Now... will he buy me drinks or fork out cash?

Were you both wearing fiendish disguises by any chance?

I wandered through the audience a bit between the bands looking for you, but with no luck, oh well.

The show was

...

well, to say 'incredible' would be a gross, gross understatement, wouldn't it?

I was down towards the front on the right hand side and nearly 24 hours later the ringing in my ears is still louder than any outside sound.

The girl standing in front of me collapsed clutching her ears, and some more people make their exit when 'My Father My King' began to reach it's conclusion. wusses.

Brilliant beyond words.

I was utterly fucking insane. They had God's own PA and knew how to use it. It was just... dangerously, irresponsibly, beautifully, unutterably loud.

It was awesome. One of the best gigs I've been to. Punishing. The sounds were indescribable - it was just far and away the best front of house mix I've ever heard. They are definitely a live band. I love the recorded stuff, but they have so much more power live. Amazing.

When are they playing again?

Yeah, what he said;

A whole FUCKING WALL of extra speakers on each side of the stage, all their best, big hitting songs..

..a big primal WA-YAAARRGGHHH!!!! is about the only thing to be said.

highlights:

i)Opening with 'Yes We Are a Long Way From Home' - may have been eclipsed by the extravaganzas to follow but, boy, did it sound good.

ii)That bit in 'Like Herod' making everyone stagger back a few steps - further enhanced by the fact that I hadn't recognized the song up until that point.

iii)'Stanley Kubrick' with extra fuzz guitar and the circling 2001 bone projected behind them - absolutely wonderful.

iv)'2 Wrongs Make One Right' - the most uplifting part of the performance - soaring and triumphant if you'll excuse the cliches.

v)'My Father My King' - beginning with that none-more-forboding guitar line and gradually transforming into COMPLETE SONIC APOCALYPSE. WOW.
