So, 'Shooting Stars' has another series.
I once liked Reeves and Mortimer. I found them funny. But after 'Bang Bang', Families at War, Randall and Hopkirk and now the warmed up, 'let's not change anything' bollocks that is Shooting Stars, I hate the sight of 'em... And bloody Johnny Vegas as well...
Are Reeves and Mortimer fallen idols, or were they always crap and it just took me time to notice?

There’s a tale that R&M wanted to make another series of ‘The Smell of…’ but that the BBC weren’t interested in that – wanted more Shooting Stars, and maybe their reluctance shows in the material ?

The new Shooting Stars is exceedingly lame.. it's so formulaic that it would probably be more exciting if they just showed repeats..

Like SouthPark, it clearly shows that comedy concepts have a finite age - "a couple of years ago this would have made me laugh my ass off .. now it just .. doesn't. At all."

R & M have always relied on unpredictible, off-kilter weirdness, so it's extremely rubbish that they're running through a show that's become so obvious you could probably close your eyes and imagine the next episode in exact detail..

(And Will Self's a totally smug plank as well, which doesn't exactly help matters.)

In a recent interview I saw Bob Mortimer claimed they probably wouldn't be doing another series of 'Randall and Hopkirk' which is a shame because, while never setting the world alight it was by far the best thing they've done in years (though series 2 was better than 1).
