Brass Eye: here comes controversy again...

Bet my ass this is in the Daily Mail tomorrow.

1: The paedo special won a Broadcast magazine comedy award

plus

2: Two MPs have had their complaint against the show rejected.

Cue frothing at the mouth style controversy...

[plus pictures of Beatrice and Eugenie in bikinis on page eight, or Charlotte Churches' tits if you're the Daily Star]

Edited because I can't link. Which raises the prospect my new blog is wrong, too. Fuckery.]

Am I the only American in the world that knows of/likes Chris Morris? Last year I lived across the hall from a London exchange student who was obsessed with the guy and would constantly be playing his stuff for me. Have to say I was duly impressed, especially by the Pedophile episode of Brass EYe which I saw on RealVideo... anybody know any good sites where I can download more of the stuff?

was all british tv actually made 10 years ago, or does it all just look that way?

Around the same time as the property boom there was a glut in the creation of television programming and what was made was totally out of proportion with the actual room in the schedule. In 1989 the government imposed a ban on all new productions until the backlog was worked off. Since then it's been all repeats.
Even the news.

it always seems like brit tv is far better than us tv. anyone here spend enough time in the us & eng to accurately compare the two?

I have. Though British television certainly has more than its share of rubbish, by and large UK-produced tv is far more challenging and original than US tv.

There is NOTHING on American TV that even comes close to what Chris Morris does.

Getting on for 25 - but apparently it looks 10 years old, and couldn't be served if it wanted to buy some fags!

(actually it probably looked 10 years old 25 years ago. Oh well.)

what are the production dates of the Dr. Who series? sorry to derail the thread, but it comes on in the US at weird times on public television. i can't seem to get a feel for when it was made. i believe it was imported from an alternate universe where video was discovereed and widely used as far back as the 60's (hence the low, low image quality).

U>S> tv has so many adverts. Some good stuff on our screens comes from over the pond though. You never have had Blake's 7 though. Nor Dr Who I gather. But we have lots of shite tv too, oh yes.
