....I probably shouldn't like.
My larger daughter made me sit down and watch a film called 'Bring It On'. Its about cheerleaders. I thought it was going to be hickwap like Disney live action, but it turned out to be witty, engaging, subtly ironic and didn't even have a happy ending.
It's essentially the only film I've ever seen for a teenage audience that is about female solidarity, with girls who'se lives are self validating.
And it lead me to another similar film, who'se name eludes me. (I can't ring Freya at school) . broadly cheerleader gets pregnant so her squad goes out and robs banks in order to support her. This was fun, but not as good as Bring it On.
And I though cheerleading was all about providing wank fodder for the monochrome set. I dare you to see this film. |
