Although we may feel that Sirius' obsessive complaining on every thread going is a little stupid, especially as any rational human being may have expected it would be more likely that his subsequent ranting would be deleted and he banned if this were a police state to match his fevered imaginings, we should perhaps take into account his inexperience and...um....well..."innocence".

As such, to allay his fears, could people - the less experienced on Barbelith the better - kindly reassure him here that the board does occasionally screw up, as it did for me last night, and temporarily prevent users from interacting with it fully with a "no member found: xxxxx" message, and that his assumptions of global conspiracy are misplaced, unless the cartel of privilege has a rather random remit regarding what to censor? I would hate either to have him lose slepp or to have us have to deal with this sort of screed on a semi-regular basis.

Oh, and if somebody fancies mentioning that if you wish to email Tom telling him he is a Nazi, you should (a) use the right address and (b) be aware that it isn't spelled "Zieg".

I think it's worth pointing out that since sirius had just been in a disagreement with Sax, and then found he couldn't access any of Sax's threads, thinking that something a little funny was going was perhaps understandable.

However, to then go round accusing Sax when his profile has no doubt been buggered by this thus forcing him to register again, is a bit out of order to say the least, and accusing Tom and "the older members" of being Nazis even when an attempt to explain what's actually happened has been offered... not good.

sirius: it was me, not Tom, that you e-mailed, unless you sent him a separate message. I replied before I'd read any of this, so had no idea what you were talking about.

But, snarky humour aside, as others have said before, the being "locked out" thing is something that happens to everyone on here on occasion. It's not due to censorship - in the time I've been here (over a couple of restarts) I've never been stopped from posting anything, and nor has anyone else, save for dedicated boardfuck trolls like Elmo. In hir case, I believe it was an operational ban, not a theory/affiliation ban, the like of which I believe would never turn up on here.

Basically, the errors are because Barbelith is a heaving community running on a tiny server. So, occasionally, it fucks up - the corrupted member profiles problem is merely one example, of which the occasional white-screen "Error 500" page error is another. It's not a big deal, and certainly isn't indicative of any censorship. This place is, functionally, an elephant dancing the Charleston on top of the Chrysler Building; tricky, impressive, and prone to the occasional messy fuckup.

It ain't you, though. But still; civility before shouting about something that isn't the case would be appreciated. It's great that you provide lots of links for people to explore your views, sirius, but it's only fair that you carry out the same sort of investigation (which, let's face it, could've amounted to a "er, what's happening?" post in the Help section) when you come up against a problem.
