Behind Enemy Lines?

Even though I dig Owen Wilson (see Bottle Rocket, The Minus Man), I've been fascinated to see this movie hyped to death for a post 9/11 politically correct tie in.

Or is it just me?

During a routine reconnaisance mission over Bosnia, F/A 18 pilot Chris Burnett photographs something that no one was meant to see and is shot down and pursued by hostile troops. As Burnett struggles to cross enemy territory and elude his pursuers, his commanding officer, Admiral Reigart, plans to disobey direct orders and launch an unauthorized rescue mission to extract Burnett from harm's way -- even though it will probably cost Reigart his career, possibly even his life.

Hmmmmmmm. . .

Are we going to see a bunch of new war movies like after WW II?

Rambo! Rambo! Rambo!

Yea I am definitely renting a suitcase of Bud Light and Rambo III for my weekend fun. Osama, where did you go wrong...

And yes, I think it is inevitable that we will see more war movies, especially those involving terrorists, because it is on everyone's mind and people will want to see these movies. Simple economics. I personally am looking forward to Blackhawk Down, about the Somalia snafu (will the Al Qaeda 'Green Berets' who reportedly orchestrated the thing get thier due?).

I'm more worried about the movies that won't get hyped, or get shelved/direct-to-video'd because of 9-11. Witness Big Trouble, a silly Dave Barry book turned into a movie that features suitcase nukes, commercial airplanes targetted by National Guard fighters, and a funny if it wasn't so true examination of the infamous airport scanners.
