that the problems are solved in unexpected ways makes for great storytelling. we expected richie to get killed, but it was a total surprise that his sister did it. and then this leads to more problems, such as people assuming tony did it -- when he is innocent.
these synchonicities as you call them tie into the psychological aspect as well. he solves problems in dreams by understanding what his ucs tells him on the one hand. on the otherhand, perhaps his ucs desires affect those around him -- his will is so powerful, for example, that his need to kill richie ripples out and moves his sister to do it. that sort of thing. |
