New Invisibles movie rumblings?

This from Grant's new column:

quote:THE INVISIBLES has been optioned for development as a Hollywood feature once again. The production team will be known to many of you from a slightly different context but I'm extremely excited about this and think all fans of the book will be too.

Which means absolute squat in the film-making sense of things but damn! Could it be? No more bitchings about the Matrix, this project's actually getting off the couch and looking for work?

I wonder who the production company is he's hinting at.

I’m convinced that the only way to do The Invisibles is a high budget TV mini-series (and even that would fall short). I don’t think I know of anyone who could make a film that works. I don’t think it could work in any other medium (unless it had a hell of a lot of time and money to unfold - hence the mini-series idea).

sorry but i don't think the movie will ever happen, i don't think grant does eaither, but he's more than willing to sell the option for the money it will bring.

An 'Invisibles' film would be so compromised it would probably come out looking like a bad 'Matrix' rip-off and Barry Norman would immediately complain that it hs no plot which he does automatically for any sci-fi film (he complained 5th Element didn't have a plot, despite the fact Ian Holm explains it three or four times in the film).

The only way i could see it working as a film, would be to similtainiously release it as film, computer game, board game, book and comic book, small comic strips wraped round bubble gum, false news stories, Radio play, etc...
As it's already a fucking great comic the film is not needed (would be nice to see how it would be done though)
