Proberly the worst remake of a (i havn't seen the original but i've heard it's bad) very shit film...

Pretty good idea..
Very good director...
Some ok actors...
Great locations...
So cool it's unbelivable promise...Really you should be able to get somthing great out of it...

and it's the most unfullfilling film i've seen since Steptoe Rides Out....

What went wrong???!!!

What are you talking about? I thought it was great - esp. George Clooney prison-sexy at the start... it's not that it was a great film, I just can't imagine what you expected from it that it didn't deliver. Eye candy, check. One-liners and cheap visual gags, check. Clever ending, check.

Yeah, I mean - what did you want? Rififi? Topkapi? Go rent them. O11 was great - everyone looked like they were having a good time. There was no pretense to intricate storytelling - just fun, amusing gags with people who wanted to be there. Re-dub Don Cheadle and it's a great film.

I was on tenterhooks fearing that Don Cheadle was going to be made to sing "Yo Eleven," since he already played Sammy Davis Jr. in the HBO Rat Pack movie. So I did burst out laughing when he opened his mouth and all the Cockney fell out, but it was more from relief than anything.

I did enjoy the movie, for all of the above reasons; and the little bit of Chicago did look like Chicago, for a change.

heh. i am such a locations geek that i knew exactly where it was before the writing came up on the screen.

think the highlight of the film for me was recognising almost all of the locations, having been to them all. except the prisons. obv.

fun enough film. i still think sodebergh is overrated though.
