a friend of mine picked this up in a boot sale and i saw it last night. it's a great film! made in 1977, it describes itself as a 'sci-fi nightmare' and it certainly is. check out william shatner, whose performance is way below that of bertha the cow, who just knows there's something in the grass coming to get her, and the classic line of explanation to the confused unbeliever, 'the spiders have organised themselves into an aggressive army'. the townspeople running around covered in spiders has to be seen to be believed and the ending is actually really scary. check it out!

This is one of those pictures that used to be on television all the time circa, like, '82-'84, along with Damnnation Alley and, uh, Motel Hell or something. I don't remember much about Kingdom except that last shot, of the town just covered in webs. Really great bit, there. Now will have to track if down again.

I have always argued that this was, without question, both the best-worst movie ever made. And only the best because it was that bad. And this is coming from a guy who likes spiders and shares a b-day with Shatner.

I am one of the biggest collectors of Nature-Runs-Amok films and Kingdom of the Spiders kicks my ass all over the place. Lovely film.

Videodrome, you might want to throw some spoilers on your post, just in case.

For GREAT Shatner work (and by that the kind that makes you laugh yourself silly) get "White Commanche" in which he plays twins. It was made between seasons of Star Trek, so you can tell that it waqs supposed to be his big leap into westerns like Clint Eastwood.

Didn't Shatner also act in the only Esperanto movie ever made?
