Has this been pissin' anyone else off at all? The complete lack of mailing list updates and the ironic full-screen pop-ups?

For anyone appreciate the full bastard irony, it's here:
http://ads.x10.com/bluefish/bf16_dhat.htm

It wouldn't be so bad, but it's imprinted in every page u load up, and I know fullwell it's loadin cookies into my browser at the sametime? Does this stink in any manner to anyoneelse?

makes me appreciate the ol' BU evenmore it has to be said.

Yes, barbelith is a wonderful place without adverts. If there's a difference between changing the way you think and brainwashing, that's us.

Um... shouldn't this topic be in conversation?

Ah - leave the poor loves alone - they have to make some money somewhere. After all, they get to PAY their contributors actual MONEY. Probably why they get articles...

I wonder if the more agressive advertising tactics on Disinfo's part is due to Razorfish's going belly-up (or so I heard...)

Likely. RAZF has been tettering on the edge of beeing delisted for a while.

I must apologised for the grumpy nature of my first post. I was a bit pissed.

Anyway, disinfo is still looking a bit shaky. No newsletters for a week, a paucity of updates on the site, and today, just this:

quote: Could Not connect to disinfo DB

Does anyone else agree that if disinfo folds it's going to be a *massive* blow?

At least we can still check our disinfo.net e-mail through chek.com...

But yeah, I couldn't get in either, and I suspect it's folding.

So, erm, the site's been down for at least 48 hours now. Is it gone for good?

Anyone else fancy a bit of wild speculation?

[marketing git] Well if Disinfo has gone belly up this leaves us a gap in the market to fill, and I think, that if we buy the disinfo site and just it as a link to Barbelith we could get a lot of business this way, which I believe could make Barbelith a major player on the internet... Are there other sites like Barbelith that would be able to assist in something like this? Keeping disinfo articles coming and such...

Ok.

1) I can't afford any extra traffic at the moment.
2) I get less than one article for the zine a week at the moment, so god knows how I'd maintain a higher profile site.
3) If disinformation went bust then the domain name would be worth a decent amount of money because it gets traffic to it. More than we could muster here, anyway.

Well there are some interesting adverts on this site.

Mr Newmans Rocket Pant Shop

It's quite a cool site, the jobs section's just great!

Oh and by the way - ABOUT the transcript that you didn't get paid for. You could have given it to Barbelith instead, you know... We pay JUST as much as you got for that article...
