Once again addressing the vital issues of the day - in the current storyline...
...who are you rooting for and why?
WWF, WCW or ECW?
It may just be my imagination, but WCW are even suckier than ECW, so they're out. ECW I do have a fondness for (Tazz, the Dudleys, Raven) but, to be fair, they can't put together a team to match the WWF.
I do think it's very sweet of Vince to extend a paypacket to such a bunch of losers (Mike Awesome, Jindrak, Lance Storm) for the sake of a good storyline, though.
Thoughts? Comments? Anyone out there actually like WCW?

always preferred their middle and lighter weights. The guys who throw their moves from the top ropes, performing impossible gymnastics in their quest for the win.
And lets face it the heavy weights of the WCW (sid vicious, hogan, etc) are just old men twatting each other (which holds its own amusement factor, but that's for another thread).

But to be honest it's been ages since I caught any of this current storyline, and as for ECW I know next to nothing about them.

**possible spoilers if you havent seen Invasion**

Shame they made Austin into an evil betrayer again after such a dramatic sequnce the week before when "the old rattlesnake came back and cleaned house". He can be pretty funny as a heel but I think he's more entertaining as an anti-hero type, same as the 'taker.

I'm kind of new to wrestling though, and I'm assuming Austin's been in this anti-hero mold for a while, so turning him into a full on heel is a breath of fresh air or something.

Still, the sequence when he was drinking in the bar and saw the old bloke in the wheel chair giving the tacky speech, then turned up and beat the crap out of everyone in the ring, was ridiculously entertaining. Didnt think the twist at the end of Invasion was worth spoiling that sequence for.

It's interesting how wrestler's characters can totally change in a matter of weeks. One minute Vince is the big enemy, Shane is the hero for taking him on and buying up WCW, and Austin has sold his soul to Vince the devil and become even more mean.

A few weeks later, Shane is now the enemy as he's stitching up his dad's business, you're now siding with Vince, and Austin has suddenly become this corporate yes man who has apparently lost his spark of aggression.

These people change fiction suits more often than we do.

I wish someone would finally beat the shit out of that Diamond Dallas Page character though, he's getting fairly irritating.

First of all let me just say how much the quality has gone down. I love wresting. (wwf)
But ever since THE UNDERTAKER came out with his new music a while ago (the one witht the little kids voices that sounded like was from nightmare on elm street) I was mazed at it. The y finally found the perfect music for him. Then what do they do?? They stick him with this stupid "american bad-ass" persona. Give me a break. Get him to a gym, because american fat-ass doesnt work well. He was way more impressive as the demon type. Im tired of stone cold. He bores me. I want then to bring back Dwayne Dibbly. I like the whole ref fight, but they usd that gimmick before the whole wwf/wcw/ecw fiasco, now its just a slight blip of amusement on on the boredom radar. And finally the whole backstabbing gimmick, they've done it soooo many times that I really think the writers should be drawn an quatered the next time they try it.
ANd can they have a match that goes through without being interupted???
THe creative talent that goes into witting for that show could fit on...actually there is NO talent involved so its a moot point.

A few observations..

" It's nice of Vince to extend a paypacket to these losers.."

WCW often paid MUCH higher wages than WWF, Vince is a penny-pincher. Do you think he really just never wanted Rob Van Damme in the WWF? Vince runs a better show, but when WCW was healthy he never competed with them on stars' contracts. Sting made more money than the Ultimate Warrior ever saw.

"..new to wrestling though, and I'm assuming Austin's been in this anti-hero mold for a while"

Austin is the Rattlesnake. He was invented as the total heel, swearing, betraying & punching the cameramen. The persona was one of the first 100% evil characters to really go over just like a good guy, he was actually a foil for goody-goodies like the Hitman, so he did everything the fans would really hate & they really loved him for it. Selling out, going soft, betrayal - whatever we loathe the most, Austin heads toward it like a homing missile. His personality has never wavered - " WHY, Stone Cold?? WHY?"

The Undertaker's music is naff, but the ultimate spoiler was Kane Speaks Out. Before he opened his mouth, he had undoubtedly the best job in the world - Mute Masked Wrestler. Oh man... then one word - and it's all ruined. Oh Kane. WHY Kane, WHY???

"And can they have a match that goes through without being interupted???"

Rob Van Damme's demolition of Jeff Hardy - HA HA HA HA HA HA..sweet.

Whatever happened to the old WWF superstars who went to WCW like The Hulkster, Randy Savage, Kevin Nash and whoever played Razor Ramon, the Leigon of Doom?

Also, where is The Crow/ Sting and Rick Flair gone?

And what the fuck has happened to Doink?

And Jerry Lawyler?

And Chyna?

The big question is: which way will The Rock jump? And can he still BRING IT?

Actually, he started as the Million Dollar Champion right at the end of The Corporation (I think that was their name. Under The Million Dollar Man, Ted Dibiasie (sp?!)), back when factions had managers. Then he stabbed the bad guys in the back, and has been doing thus ever since.
