The restoration is beautifull and the 2nd disc is nice, but the new english dub SUCKS. I don't care care how much better the translation is, lines like "mabey when you down your first clown" are now "go steal your own bike". <sarcasm> Wow, that makes all the difference in the world. </sarcasm> You'd think with all that space on a DVD they'd give us the option of the original dub.

i also wish they had an option for the original dub, the picture is amazing, and the new translation is not bad, i like the steal you own bike line, makes more sense really than "when you kill the first guy from the other gang you will magically get a bike"

He wouldn't magically get a bike. In the original dub Kaneda said he might let Tetsuo ride his bike after he downs his first clown. The point being, the film dosen't rely on dialogue nuances, or dialogue much in general.

The translation is MUCH BETTER, it's the voice acting i HATE.

Urm.. the original dub... which used the same voice actors as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles??????

I saw the film originally in japanese with subs and I don't think I could spoil it by watching a dubbed version of any kind. Besides, the japanese voice acting is the best

Still though - I am proud of owning this beauty - LUST - see how it sits on my shelf, shining shiningly with its black metal shininess, beckoning me into its craven anime depths....
