Member # 187, formerly known as 'a life to the World', is now calling hirself 'A Rosa By Any Other Name'. This is after calling hirself 'Lick my bitch, plums'.

It seems obvious that this person is intent on passing themself off as other, fairly well-known posters on the board.

It strikes me that this is, as they say, out of order.

The question is, what action if any should be taken?

This happened a month or so back with someone else.

Someone messaged me with a similar problem and I responded (after emailing Tom) to the pseudo person by writing a "can you please change your name so you don't get confused with someone else" message.

I guess the same thing could be done in this situation.

Or something similar. (week ban?)

But I think I would be overstepping my bounds (what are my bounds as a moderator anyways?) if I sent something like that.

I don't think banning is the way to go, myself (tho' ask me again after someone called "Diva" shows up, posting about how gays bring oppression on themselves with their nasty refusal to stay in the damn closet). I think just a "heads up" warning by whoever notices the deception on whatever thread it's happening on would be better.

I don't know, it just seems a bit un-Barbelith to protect fictionsuit identities too fiercely.

Well, yes. Little over-reaction. If someone had grabbed a respected posters handle just after the reboot (ie, before they could re-register), then I'd see the problem. But this nutbar is relatively easy to spot, and is posting both at the same time as those whose names they're pastiching, and in a completely different style.

Really, I don't see the problem. Probably a little annoying for Plums/Rosa, but I'm sure they can handle it.

I've been getting confused by the way that there's some posts from jac The Bodiless, but with a profile with [YNH]'s adress in it (same member number?) but [YNH] is still posting under that name... fucking strange...

UPDATE: Yes, same Member Number, so safe to assume [YNH] used the name after Jack cahnged to the Magic Dragon and the threads just haven't been renewed since then...

Ho hum. Hopefully, the gag didn't upset too many posts. There's something weird about how the board assigns the new name, and then doesn't reassign when it goes back.

As usual, I was giving our scaled friend (not Haus) a hard time.
