Picked up these stories in a collection called Warrior Beyond Time recently. By Pat Mills, art by Fabry/ someone similar.

It's phat. Invisibles type shit, amazing villains especially a character called the Guledig who is a manifestation of authority in the form of a 3 leg swastika!!

Read it, bastids, it's fuckin brilliant. More of this type of thing in 2000AD please.

Yeah. The art's by Simon Bisley. I've been dying to get my hands on that comic for a while now because I'm fascinated by the whole Herne/Cernunnos mythos and supposedly Mills does a great job.

Sounds like Prisoner's got some of the pre-Bisley 'Slaine'. That was an amazing run - the whole series went completely haywire for fifteen episodes or so - and I think it was Fabry's big break to boot.

It's well worth digging your way back to the episodes illustrated by Mike McMahon because they are, ahem, Fucking Godlike.

Are you sure it was Bisley? I don't know the collected volume but in the actual weeky 2000AD's the art with the guledig etc was by Fabry and David Pugh.

Ahh the Cythrons, what a great story. Slaine time travelling across dimensions, prior to his more recent exploits. I love the Dune like Harkonin (spelling?) feel to the baddies. The arch nemesis Elvin (spelling?) was great.
All this stuff is very similar to Pugh's work on the Invisibles, especially our voodoo hero.
Its a pity that Pat Mill's work has suffered an unfortunate slide away from this material and towards some very neo-pagan propoganda.

I'll see if I can dig out my copies of DiceMan comic. I'm sure was a great Slaine adventure closely linked to this narrative, or one that appeared in 2000AD itself. Anyone?

Prisoner no. 1300 :

Does it include the Time Killers series? It also features the Guledig, Elvin and a fucking wicked time-travel/celtic mythos sub-plot in it.

will it work wright?

Ahh man, I had the first three Diceman as well as a Titan collection of all the Diceman Slaine! The fucking perils of house moving means these things disapper over time. Damn!
Oh yeah, Elvin makes an appearence in one of the RPG comic-adventures (something to do with spotting his third eye, remember?).

For any other fan of Fabry, he has got a site.
