From Ted Rall's official site:

quote:
NBM Publishing will release the first-ever "instant graphic travelogue" about Ted Rall's experiences covering the war in Afghanistan in April 2002. The book's centerpiece is a 50-page graphic novel relating Ted's foray into the war zone during November-December 2001 to write for The Village Voice and report for KFI Radio in Los Angeles.

As long-time readers and listeners know, Ted has been writing about Central Asia and Afghanistan since 1997, and was one of the first American journalists to note the importance of the region to American interests. TO AFGHANISTAN AND BACK, a 112-page hardback, is a comprehensive look at the US bombing campaign, its effects on ordinary people, the politics of the region and how it relates to the United States after September 11th. Accordingly, TO AFGHANISTAN AND BACK will incorporate both new and reprinted prose as well as editorial cartoons and photos from Afghanistan never published elsewhere. TO AFGHANISTAN AND BACK will be a unique must-have for anyone interested in Central Asia and Afghanistan. You may order in advance through Barnes and Noble or Amazon.

Needless to say, I am very psyched about this. What about you?

W/ stuff like this on the horizon, I don't think there's much call to get depressed about the future of comics.

I've read 2024 - I like it quite a lot, I don't think I can really give it a proper review right now, as I haven't read it in months, so it's not fresh in my memory. It's one of Rall's best works, for sure, and it's overflowing with excellent right-on biting satire and social criticism. It's nothing like any other graphic novel I've ever seen, too. I highly recommend picking it up.
