USENET Comic recommendations link

Not sure of the form, but here is thelink.

Here is the original message from Usenet:

Every once in a while there's a post asking for favorite stories or arcs.

These posts seldom seem to stir much interest (probably because the topic has been talked to death in this forum).

And the same handful of comics get mentioned each time, of course (Watchmen, "Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow" and "The Boy Who Collected Spider-man" being the usual candidates).

Or the recommendations aren't the best stories, but the most collectible (first issues, first appearances, and origins - and although these are of interest, they don't always equate with the best, or even good, stories - part of the problem with the Marvel Top 100, for example).

I've compiled a lengthy list of rec.arts.comics.* recommendations made over the years (tracked down using google).

It's pretty rough, and pretty incomplete (it's too heavy on mainstream 80's stories, for example).

It's too long to post here, but if you want to take a look, go to
http://www3.telus.net/pensions/usenetrec.

Comments are welcome, here or by e-mail (particularly if you want to add to the list! or can point me to other stabs at this kind of thing...)

Well, that's pretty cool. Just browsed through the Action Comics recommendations (I'm on a big Superman kick right now) and spotted a few that I wouldn't mind picking up. Shame that most of them don't have a number attached. I guess that's what Google is for.
