New new x-men cover

That is just fantastic. I particularly like the way that there's clearly a bunch of recognisable students that will keep recurring - Emma's cuckoo girls, the skinny green plant guy, the big transparent pink guy, and - yes! - Beak! Out of his coma, bless the poor lad.

Couple of questions raised:

Since Angel is sitting on the front row and wearing the black, does that mean she's part of the teaching staff/X-Men proper? If so, why?

Bit of a spoiler, but I take it Xavier gets his own body back, then? Boo.

Where is Xorn? Does Quitely have some aversion to drawing him, or do we reckon he doesn't make it out of the big battle with Cassie alive?

(By the way, this is the cover to #126, the extra-sized conclusion to 'Imperial' (see here), but I reckon it also points the way for phase 2 of Grant's run on the comic, ie, far more focus on Xavier's as a school.)

Oooh, I really fucking love that cover.

He really is a cultural sponge, isn't he? Buffytastic.

I thought I could see Gunn and Wesley on far right of the third row... but I only just realised that, wrong hair colour aside, that might just be Willow, Giles, Buffy and Xander next to them. I'm sure there's a few other geek icons hidden there as well, Sgt Pepper stylee...

You really have a problem. You do.
JADEISABIGOTPATROLGO!
As for wolverine:
I don't know. Too manga-like? (But then, they all look like that). Or, perhaps, unnecessarily tacky.
nico, in this thread, showed us his version of the x-bunch. His wolverine beats the hell out of this one. Personal taste, subjective perception.

Nico does good X-Men but Quitely is my all time fave. I just can't stand to look at that other X book or the fill in artists. Emma is the hottest comic chick ever.

Haus about we all give each other a big lovely huggle?
11:55 / 08.02.02
Yeah. I'd like to be Wolverine.

And touch her tits with my claw.

Then stick my penis in her ear.

Sorry.
(Pssh.. I'll let you into a little secret. Me neither. I'm assuming its meaning by the context it has been utilized in other conversations going on. Yes, I am *that* bold). *Cue for John Williams music intro*

Tacky: Do you know what "naff" means, have you ever seen Pat Butcher's earrings? Kinda like that.

I wish I had a more Brazillian example for you.

No, I don't *know* the dictionary definition of the term. But I think there is a fair chance that I guessed it correctly. Yes, I did, as you example is showing.

Two things:

There are no guarantees as to whether or not Charles gets his body back, or anyone else living or dying: that is a photo in a frame on a hardwood floor. It seems to be taken just before the beginning of #117 (Charles is there, Emma is there, Henry is still healthy. Xorn is not there yet - the only problem is that Angel is there, which doesn't make sense, but it's just a cover with more symbolic value than anything else. It could be a picture of 'the way things were' before the change into the way things will be.

I appreciate that Scott/Emma and Jean/Logan are separated by Charles...Grant has been very consistent with keeping that motif going...

Ummm... I think you might be getting a little creative w/ the word there, Jade.

I really, really don't understand what you mean.

um, could that not be Xorn up in the top row, just to the left. (Yours, not theirs)
Maybe.

The one in the Unabomber get-up?

Um, the Unabomber looking kid is the Michael Jackson kid.

I think Xorn is the one sitting to the left of Angel in the first row, edged out of the frame of the drawing, but not the photograph.

Wonder what that Michael Jackson kid's powers are? Or maybe it's really MJ?

More like the biker-style bib & brace things, I think. I've got a pair of those - but don't look as good as Wolverine in 'em, sadly...

Class of '02, eh? Lovely. And all those little touches - the cypherman-like fetish creature in the back row... wonder if Grant's got a bit of a thing about gasmasks?

Does Angel have fly eyes in that pic? She still has her normal eyes in issue 122.

Scott and Emma are rubbing knees.

Jean's rubbing her leg in Logan's too.

New Sex-Men is having some internal continuity problems (re: Xorn) and that only requires a bit of editorial skill to solve.
