That and we learn that the Spike refers to himself in the 3rd person...

I thought it was a bit of a let down. The art was just, not Allred.

And they should have done some full on fucking.

They did do some full on fucking, only off camera.

And I liked the art. Not Allred, but nice. I think Milligan paces this book real well.

I can't believe that I didn't have the faith in Milligan and Allred to get in on this one on the ground floor. This continues to be my favorite monthly series at present and it seems to just keep getting better. I liked the art this issue a lot, although I felt like the artist was trying to ape Allred maybe a little too much. I'm glad that Milligan is exploring some of the more human issues that he deals w/so well instead of just the whole 'mutants in the public eye' thing (which I like a lot, don't get me wrong). Word of mouth must be spread on this series!!!!

I thought the art worked really well with the interlude quality of the story...

A change of pase both art wise & story wise...

Not very original but very endearing!!!

I like the fact that the details of Edie's conception are very similar to the 1980's Heart song 'All I Want To Do Is Make Love To You'. The lyrics of which I seem to be able to completely recall right now...

Of course this issue also kind of points to the idea that its gonna be edie's turn to die soon. Her character is kind of played out now, and fleshed out enough to be a tragedy. Plus she's most peoples favourite and killing her would further reinforce the idea that *anything* can happen in this comic.

It suddenly looks very doubtful that Edie will be dying any time soon. Tike on the other hand...

However, it looks like the comic WILL be becoming The X-Statics.

Linkity!

I want to show you all something:

actually, i really dont care what the hell they do. I just find it annoying that they keep rebooting books by starting a new volume, or changing the title just for the sake of making more money because number ones sell. At least with just a title change I could continue the collection without disrupting the numbering. In all honesty Ive been trying to cut down on my comic book collecting and if this actually occurs it will give me an excuse to drop some titles. I'll just read it at the comic shop.

Wow! I've never ecountered this level of dorkdom before. Comicon is a special place.

Damn, I was hoping they wouldn't drop any hints as to who'll die next issue, and we could have a guessing session. Oh well...

Oh, and they can't change the name! If they change the name then what will happen to all the fan boys who like to write letters telling them how they destroyed such a cool book as X-Force. I just find something kind of ammusing about how every issue has a hate letter in the back (though the latest one was pretty week).

I'm with you yawn. I can't quite put into words what's so good about this issue. But it's good. real good.

A fill in artist that actually complimented Lenn ... um, Edie's story. As opposed to just emphasising Allred's absence.

And a script that dares to give ... gasp ... depth to a superhero character.

X-Force is now the only comic I can be bothered with. The characters are really fleshing out nicely. It's starting to look like it could be whipping up a real Shade style groove, something I've been missing.

I just hope Milligan gets 50 issues to run with.

And EVERYONE should read 'Run With The Hunted'.

They should teach it in schools.

If you look at the X-STATICS pic, you'll notice that Tike (Anarchist) isn't bursting out with the rest of them....

You know, I have a feeling that there's a particular part of a lady that Knodger has never seen and will never see. Am I right, Knodger?

Looks like that image Flux posted may not be a spoiler after all:

quote:"It's crazy to get back on line and see this rampant speculation. Did you see all the covers that I did just for fun that showed up in our first X-Force collection? Line-ups that didn't (and now never) will exist? Well, that's exactly what this was. I was just messing around waiting for the next script from Peter and speculating on answers that I'm not privy to yet. I'm constantly working on various cover designs, and some go all the way to completion because I get excited. I sent these along to Peter and Axel. I kid you not - no bull - THAT IS NOT A REAL COVER! The final may be a variation of it (in concept) if approved - but the lineup and costumes will be very different I'm sure."

So says Mike Allred. Maybe the deadpool's back on, and my money on Guy buying the farm may not be wasted...

I actually think it'll be Guy too, because I think his character is a bit of a dead end, but is a good influence, and his death will have more meaning to the others than anyone else - I think Edie and Tike are too obvious, they've hinted at it in recent issues (particularly with Tike), I think those are just red herrings...

The Natural Way
10:53 / 13.02.02
The thing about his death having the most impact.... That's persuasive.

I'm in.

Surely on the death having impact front edie is still clearly ahead since she's the one character most people love.

By "impact" I meant "effect in *X Force world*".

Can I get in on the pool? Out of Tike, Guy and Edie, I’m willing to bet the Anarchist goes down first, ‘cause his death will make the sharpest satire.

But hey, let’s bet on Phat, Vivisector and Spike too. I’m thinking Miles will bite it first. Phat and Spike are safe until they have a scene.

SPOILERS! The plot thickens...

Okay - unless that girl in the bottom left is Edie with a radically different look, and unless we get a third one of these 'possible cover' images, then my deadpool money is definitely on Guy... Major misdirection going on here, methinks.

I think the girl at the lefthand bottom is, um, deadgirl. The other woman is venus dee milo. Don't know who the stretchy guy is, but he kind of looks like the stretchy guy from allred's atomics...

I wouldn't put much stock in any of the stuff that shows up online. It's all obfuscation, but it sure is a lot of fun.
