Please read this online comic. I think it's pretty fucking awesome, but I'd like thoughts?

PS. It's not mine (shame) but it is a friend's.

Cyclops: 'And Jean, everyone knows I'm not gay.'
That's good stuff. I like how Kitty Pryde looks like Jennifer Love Hewitt, too.

that is really good.

my favourite parts were the bits that didn't draw on the whole superhero thing: the boy in the comic shop and the extra-panel conversations, but the superhero thing was nicely paced and drawn as well.

is there more? is there a print version?

It keeps mentioning that it's the second issue. Is there a first issue? Where can I find it?

That's my favorite line in the book too. The moment I saw JLH in party of 5 I thought she would be the perfect kitty pride.

Thanks for the praise. I tend not to get much feed back from my work, so I always assume it sucks.

I just finished reading both issues. I wish I had that kind of talent, hell I wish I had any kind of talent; my artistic skills are on par with those of the average ten year old. Will there be an issue three? I hope so, this is great stuff.

Cool stuff Nico. You messed with my head, tittilated my hormones, and made me laugh out loud.

Definitely let us know when #3 is up.

methinks #2 began misleadingly with Morrison and Quesada. I thought, "unfunny parody comic" and I expected something mediocore and so I read the first few pages cynically. I also think that the style of the comic book would work better on paper. I did race through the text of both issues speedily in a way that I would not have off-line. I think the B&W had something to do with it. versus look at the rich colors coming off the CRT. I will savor this!, kind of response. other than that what everyone else said. it strikes me as really original which few comics do. love "JLH" too. y'know the media version JLH. I don't know the real one. she appears in crappy movies I would never see. but she looks cute! and she wouldn't harm small animals.

I like issue one as well, nico. It's broader, and somehow vaguer, but the sense of - i don't know, what is it? trepidation? something a bit existential or nihilistic, is really pronounced.

and yeah i second ria's vote. these should be printed on paper. maybe not for comicshop distro or anything like that, but at least for sticking in zine shops and sending out to barbelithers (hint, hint)

can I ask how you do it? do you actually construct a comic-form and scan it with the pages folded, or is all that made in photoshop?

I'm going through it as I type this.

Fucking brilliant man. You seriously need to at least publish this stuff as a mini-comic and send me a dozen copies.
The art is incredible. I wish I could draw. I demand you sit down and tell us every trick you have, from pencils to ink to letters.

Go.

Fuck! I wonder how many people stopped reading it after that part...Glad you liked the rest. I'd much rather read it on paper too. Thanks for taking the time to write.

I scan a few pages of the black and white comic "murder me dead" and then manipulate the hell out of them in photshop and illustrator.

really glad you enjoyed the first one!!!

I'm thinking of putting hi-res versions of the books up for anyone that may want to print them out.

I'm way too paranoid to give away my tricks. Let me get a job first and then I'll tell.

Oh come on Nico. I promise that when I steal all your ideas and use them in my own comics that I'll give you credit.

No? Oh well. Just give answer me two questions.

1) Fonts? Blambot?

2) Photoshop?

p.s. I've shared your little gem with some other online friends and their reaction is also very good. I think you hurt some brains though.

don't mind me. I don't like 'geek' or 'celeberity' humor. I prefer 'everyday' or 'foibles of human life' kind of humor. and yes I did like the comic very very much and think you have impressive talent.

It reminds me of Flann O'Brien's 'At Swim-Two-Birds'...
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/156478181X/qid=1013115826/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_3_1/104-2352405-6207142

From the amazon review: <<<O'Brien labored mightily to make At Swim-Two-Birds summary-proof. But here, anyway, are the bare bones: the narrator, a university student, is writing a novel, which keeps morphing from mock-heroics to middlebrow naturalism. Meanwhile, one of his characters, Dermot Trellis, is himself writing a Western--an Irish Western--whose cowpunching protagonists will eventually throw off their fictional shackles and attempt to murder their creator. (Talk about the death of the author!) There's enough structural shenanigans here to keep an entire industry of critics afloat.>>>

i couldn't live without photoshop-70% of godshead is done with it. The fonts i find all over the web (not blambot).

Thank you for showing your friends the book. Feel free to post it on what ever message boards you frequent, too.
