CAUTION: Venting thread.

Argh. I feel dirty. Waiting for Fantastic Four:1234 to be issued here, was surprised to see it coming out in a "Special Edition" along with 3 spandex-filth comics (hulk, captain america and punisher - no matter what you say, I REFUSE to believe that people still read that crap).
So, apparently I'll have to admit that somewhere in my house there is a captain america comic book. How could this be worse? Don't tell me, I know - it could be some X-title...

It's time for a bit of the old "shut up, he explained":

X Force and New X Men are good.

Shut up.

And I mean that in the best possible, even helpful, way.

Jade, you're probably going to be seeing more. This is Marvel's new idea for reprinting, rather than going back to single issues. Origin #1 was reprinted in a similar format, with some other stuff. Though, the other stuff was quite good too.

And hey, as long as they're not charging you trade paperback prices for them, no biggie, right?

Zoom.

And I HOPE this procedure does not become standard here in brazil, else I'll quit buying this stuff.

Personally, I think it's a great idea for the newstand market. I've seen a lot of folks buying them in train stations...it's a good deal - four comics for $3 or so. It's a good deal for a casual comics reader who just wants to pick up a comic to read on the train ride home or whatever...It's a bit like those old three-random-comics-in-a-bag things that they used to sell in toy stores, only they are putting comics that are generally considered the best things that Marvel has published recently...

also: why would you be *for* a Grant Morrison written FF, but *against* a Grant Morrison written New X-Men? Since when were the Fantastic Four not 'spandex filth'?

I knew someone would bring this up. But no, really.
Of course it says something about my taste for comics the fact that the only super-hero books I enjoy are the ones with a different spin to the story, more realistic, or that explore psychological issues etc. Comic books that, like WATCHEMN did, pervert the very notion of a bunch of adults with their undies over their pants socking superintelligent wackos with way to much free time in their hands.
Mr. Morrison Moore, among others, have been providing this sort of entertainment, opposite to the sort of "Look! He's got a Nullificator! We need to find a Chronobimbulator, kill those evil robots from the tenth dimension and revert the magnopolarity, or the whole Universe is gonna be invaded by gigantic cockroaches!" or something like this.

As for New X-Men, I'll wait and se. If it's good, I'll publicly apologize.

So I guess you didn't like the Invisibles much, right?

I'm still waiting to read it, dude. But I got hold of three issues, and couldn't avoid the feeling that the whole thing is an unendurable name-dropping exercize aournd mr. Morrison's navel. The whole thing just kept screaming "lookatme, lookatme, lookatme"... still, I don't want to be unfair. If there's a story, a well-told story somewhere in there, I'm up to it.

Jenkins' Hulk is usually a well told story.
